Symonds Green is a neighbourhood within the English new town of Stevenage in Hertfordshire. Symonds Green is predominantly a residential area, dating mostly from the 1970s, with a mixture of public-sector, charitable, and private housing. It has a neighbourhood shopping centre, a playing fields complex at Meadway, a nursery, infant and primary schools, a community centre, church, dentists, two public houses, and several children's playgrounds.
Graveley, Hertfordshire
Graveley is a village and civil parish about four miles east of Hitchin and two miles north of Stevenage in Hertfordshire, England. In 2011 part of the parish became part of the new civil parish designated Great Ashby Community Council. Graveley is built on what used to be known as the Great North Road. Little Wymondley
Little Wymondley is a village situated between Hitchin and Stevenage in Hertfordshire. Paradoxically, it is larger than its near neighbour Great Wymondley. It has several interesting houses, including the moated Bury of the 16th and 17th centuries, the fine 17th century Hall, the late Georgian Wymondley House, and Wymondley Priory, an early 13th century foundation turned into a house in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Great Wymondley
Great Wymondley is a village situated near Hitchin in Hertfordshire. It is dominated by its small Norman church with a large apsidal chancel and 15th century nave roof. There are also earthworks of a former motte-and-bailey castle, and Delamere House, an elegant Elizabethan building. There are also a number of thatched cottages, including a row of terraced cottages each named after one of King Henry VIII's wives.
Lister Hospital (Stevenage)
First opened in 1972, the Lister Hospital is based on the outskirts of Stevenage in Hertfordshire. It is operated by the East and North Herts NHS trust along with the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Welwyn Garden City. The Lister Hospital currently has 650 beds and an A&E department. It was listed by the Conservative Party (UK) in 2007 as one of 29 hospitals most at risk of being closed in England.
