Newcastle University
Newcastle University is a public research university located in Newcastle upon Tyne in the north-east of England. It was established as a School of Medicine and Surgery in 1834 and became the University of Newcastle upon Tyne by an Act of Parliament in August 1963. Newcastle University is a member of the Russell Group, an association of research-intensive UK universities. The University has one of the largest EU research portfolios in the UK.
St James' Park

Royal Grammar School, Newcastle
Royal Grammar School, Newcastle upon Tyne, usually abbreviated as RGS, is a selective British independent school for pupils aged between 7 to 18 years. Founded in 1525 by Thomas Horsley, then-Mayor of Newcastle, it received royal foundation by Queen Elizabeth I and is the city's oldest institution of learning. Eldon Square Shopping Centre
Eldon Square is a shopping centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It was officially opened in 1977. Eldon Square was also the name applied to a terrace development on the same site, designed by John Dobson in about 1824 and demolished in the 1960s. The centre is due to be rebranded as "intu Eldon Square" in 2013 following the renaming of parent Capital Shopping Centres Group plc as "intu properties plc".
Bainbridge's
Bainbridge's is a major department store in Eldon Square in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The store dates back to 1838, and became the first department store in the world in 1849, after it began recording weekly turnover separately by department. In 2002 after a vote by store employees the owner, John Lewis, changed the official name to John Lewis Newcastle, although many shoppers still use the Bainbridge's name.
Haymarket Metro station
Haymarket Metro station is a station on the Tyne and Wear Metro in the north of the city centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. Like the other stations in the city centre, its platforms are located underground. The station is used by approximately six million passengers every year. It is the nearest station to Newcastle University, Northumbria University's City Campus West, the Civic Centre, and the major shopping area that surrounds Northumberland Street. It is also adjacent to Haymarket bus station.

Northumberland Street is a major shopping street in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne, in the North East of England. It is home to a wide range of different retailers, banks and cafes, and in terms of rental per square foot, Northumberland Street is the most expensive location in the UK outside of London's Oxford Street to own a shop. There are currently over 51 retailers including pubs on Newcastle's Northumberland Street.
Newcastle University Medical School
The University of Newcastle upon Tyne Medical School was established in 1834 in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne and served as the College of Medicine in connection with Durham University from 1851 to 1937 when it joined Armstrong College, to form King's College, Durham. Church of St Thomas the Martyr
The Church of St Thomas the Martyr, Newcastle upon Tyne, is one of the most prominent city centre landmarks, located close to both universities, the city hall and main shopping district in the Haymarket. It is a 19th century Anglican re-foundation of a medieval chapel, traditionally said to have been created by one of the assassins of Thomas Becket.
Newcastle City Hall
Newcastle City Hall is a concert hall, located in Newcastle upon Tyne which has hosted many popular music and classical artists throughout the years, as well as standup and comedy acts. Opened in 1927, the City Hall was built as a part of a development which also included the adjacent City Pool. It has since become a venue for orchestras, rock and pop bands, and comedy acts, as well as for celebrity recitals, talks and civic functions.

Designed by the city architect, George Kenyon, the building was completed in 1967 and was formally opened by HM King Olav V of Norway on 14 November 1968. It is a Grade II* listed building. The Newcastle Civic Centre is the joint eighth tallest building in the city.

Castle Leazes
Castle Leazes is a piece of common land in Newcastle upon Tyne. It is situated in an area which separates Leazes Park and Spital Tongues. This area of land has been considered as a possible site for a replacement stadium by Newcastle United football club, particularly in the mid-1990s. It would have replaced the nearby St James' Park, but instead the club decided to expand St James' Park to over 50,000 seats.

Jesmond Synagogue
The Jesmond Synagogue is a former synagogue in the Jesmond neighbourhood of Newcastle upon Tyne, in northeast England. The synagogue, on Eskdale Terrace in Jesmond, was built in 1914-15 by Marcus Kenneth Glass in an Art Deco interpretation of Byzantine Revival style. The porch has a triple arcade and columns with lotus bud capitals. A large, sunburst, stained-glass window fills the huge Byzantine arch of the facade. The brickwork is coursed with alternating beige and red stripes.

The Centre for Software Reliability (CSR) is a distributed British organisation concerned with software reliability, including safety-critical issues. It consists of two sister organisations based at Newcastle University, UK. and City University, London. The centre runs the Safety-Critical Systems Club (SCSC) and the Software Reliability & Metrics Club, with a number of events. In particular, there is an annual Safety-Critical Systems Symposium (SSS).
Natural History Society of Northumbria
The Natural History Society of Northumbria is a voluntary organization to promote the study of natural history and protect the wildlife of the North East of England. Its offices and library are in the Great North Museum: Hancock, whose building, land and collections it owns. It leases them to Newcastle University, on whose behalf they are administered by Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums.
