Whitchurch Rural District (Herefordshire)
Whitchurch was a rural district in Herefordshire, England from 1894 to 1931. It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 from that part of the Monmouth rural sanitary district which was in Herefordshire. It consisted of the following parishes Ganarew Garway Llanrothal Welsh Bicknor Welsh Newton Whitchurch The district was abolished in 1931 under a County Review Order. It was combined with the Ross Rural District to make the Ross and Whitchurch Rural District.
Redmire pool
Redmire Pool is near Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire, England. At only 3 acres in size it is considered the home of carp angling by industry experts, The earliest sign of its potential was unveiled on October 3, 1951 when a British record carp of 31.25 lb was caught by Bob Richards. The water was made famous by Richard Walker who caught a British record carp, weighing 44 lb, overnight on 13 September 1952. The fish, a common carp, was transferred to London Zoo.
Llangarron
Llangarron is a small village and civil parish in southwest Herefordshire within seven miles of Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. The church is dedicated to St. Deinst. The village no longer has a post office or pub, though it does have a hall. The name (also spelt Llangarren and Llangarran) refers to the Garron Brook, a tributary of the River Wye. Several local farms have Welsh names, a legacy of the fluid nature of the England-Wales border in the past.
St Michael's Church, Michaelchurch
St Michael's Church, Michaelchurch, is a redundant Anglican church in Michaelchurch, Herefordshire, England. It is designated by English Heritage as a Grade II listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It is located in an isolated position in a field some 5 miles to the west of Ross-on-Wye. The church is notable for its 13th-century wall paintings, and the presence of a reconstructed Roman altar.
Church of St Swithin, Ganarew
The Church of St Swithin is a parish church in Ganarew, south Herefordshire, England. The parish church is dedicated to St Swithin, although the 1868 National Gazetteer notes a dedication to St Luke. The parish is within the Church of England Diocese of Hereford, and the church is a Grade II listed building.
