M27 motorway
The M27 is a motorway in Hampshire, England. It is 25 miles long and runs west-east from Cadnam to Portsmouth. It was opened in stages between 1975 and 1983. It is unfinished, as an extension to the east was planned. A number of smaller motorways were proposed, connecting the city centres of Southampton and Portsmouth to the motorway; of these only the M271 and M275 were built. Two sections of the M27 near Southampton and Portsmouth have been widened to four lanes each way.
New Forest District
New Forest is a local government district in Hampshire, England. It is named after the New Forest. It was created on 1 April 1974, and was a merger of the borough of Lymington, New Forest Rural District and part of Ringwood and Fordingbridge Rural District. The district is one of the most populated in England not to be a unitary authority. It was recommended by the Banham Commission to become one in 1995, but this case was vetoed by the government of the day.

RAF Stoney Cross
RAF Stoney Cross is a former World War II airfield in the New Forest, Hampshire, England. The airfield is located approximately 4 miles northwest of Lyndhurst and 12 miles west of Southampton. Opened in 1942, it served both the Royal Air Force and United States Army Air Forces. During the war it functioned primarily as a combat bomber and fighter airfield. It closed in January 1948. Today the remains of the airfield sit on New Forest Crown land managed by the Forestry Commission.
Ocknell Plain
Ocknell Plain can be found in the New Forest near Southampton, England. The area was used in World War II for the Stoney Cross air base and it is now very popular with campers and daytrippers. Campsites in the area include Ocknell and Longbeech. The Rufus Stone can be found about a mile east of Ocknell Plain. The nearest settlements are Minstead and Fritham.
Knightwood Oak
The Knightwood Oak is a pedunculate oak and the largest, and perhaps most famous, oak tree in the New Forest in southern England. It is also known as the Queen of the Forest. It is over 500 years old and has a girth of 7.38 metres . The tree is still growing. It was pollarded when about 200 years old and thought to have been last pollarded about 150 years ago. The tree is located about 2.4 miles WSW of Lyndhurst and just north of the A35 road at grid reference SU265065.
Portuguese Fireplace
The Portuguese Fireplace is a war memorial in the New Forest National Park, near the village of Lyndhurst, Hampshire, United Kingdom. It is located on the road between Bolderwood and Emery Down, approximately 2 km from the latter. It is near to Millyford Bridge and is used as a Waymark. Because it was operated by the Canadian Forestry Corps, it is referred to locally as the Canadian Fireplace.
