Howtown

Howtown is a hamlet in Cumbria, England, situated at a small harbour on the east shore of Ullswater in the Lake District. Howtown is about three and a half miles from Pooley Bridge and is best reached by water. The Ullswater steamers regularly stop there on their way from Glenridding at the southern end of Ullswater to Pooley Bridge at the northern end of the lake. The name Howtown means "farmstead on the hill".

St Martin’s Church, Martindale is located in the valley of Martindale in Cumbria, England. Dunmallet

Dunmallet or Dunmallard Hill is a small hill in the English Lake District, near Pooley Bridge, Cumbria. It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. It reaches 775 feet and Wainwright describes the ascent, from Pooley Bridge, as a "simple after-dinner stroll". He lists two other early spellings: Dunmalloght and Dunmallock The hill is wooded and the views from the top limited. Remains of an iron age hill fort have been detected on the hill.
