South Bronx

The South Bronx is an area of the New York City borough of The Bronx, in the U.S. state of New York. The geographic definitions of the South Bronx have evolved and are disputed but certainly include the neighborhoods of Mott Haven and Melrose. The neighborhoods of Tremont, University Heights, Highbridge, Morrisania, Soundview, Hunts Point, Longwood and Castle Hill are sometimes considered part of the South Bronx.

Longwood is an urban, mixed use, primarily residential neighborhood geographically located in the southwest Bronx, New York City. The neighborhood is part of Bronx Community Board 2. The Hub, Bronx

The Hub is at the retail, theater, and restaurant heart of the South Bronx, New York. It is located where four roads converge: East 149th Street, Willis, Melrose and Third Avenue. Playground 52

Playground 52 is a small park in The Bronx. Originally built in the 1950s as a playground for PS-52, the playground suffered decay during the 1970s. In 1980, a group of volunteers known as 52 People for Progress began to rehabilitate the park. Bronx Opera House

The Bronx Opera House is a theatre built in 1913 at 436 East 149th street in Bronx, New York. It was one of several theaters to come into the area that became known as the Hub. It seated 1,900 on three levels and in box seats. Performers included Will Rogers in 1914, the Marx Brothers, George Burns, Gracie Allen, Julia Marlowe, Ethel Barrymore and Lionel Barrymore, David Warfield.
