National Lift Tower
The National Lift Tower (previously called The Express Lift Tower and known locally as the 'Northampton Lighthouse') is a lift testing tower built by the Express Lift Company off the Weedon Road in Northampton, England. The structure was commissioned in 1978 with construction commencing in 1980, and was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 12 November 1982.
Sixfields
Sixfields is an area of Northampton, Northamptonshire, England about 1 mile west of the town centre along the A4500 road towards M1 junction 16. Most of the area was a landfill site for domestic waste until a few years ago. It was converted into a leisure area to accommodate the new Sixfields Stadium for Northampton Town Football Club and an athletics running track. A domestic and trade waste recycling centre run by Northamptonshire County Council occupies part of the site.
Northamptonshire Ironstone Railway Trust
The Northamptonshire Ironstone Railway Trust operates a 1+⁄2 miles mile long heritage railway line at Hunsbury Hill, south-west of Northampton. The line is mainly dedicated to freight working, featuring many sharp curves and steep gradients which were typical of the industrial railway, but rides are available in a variety of vehicles including a converted brake van.

Northampton railway station is a railway station serving the large town of Northampton and other parts of Northamptonshire in England. Other parts of South Northamptonshire are better served by Kings Sutton, Banbury and Milton Keynes Central stations. The station is served by London Midland local services southbound to London and northbound to Birmingham New Street and Crewe, on the Northampton Loop of the West Coast Main Line.
Battle of Northampton (1264)
The Battle of Northampton was a battle in the Second Barons' War. In April 1264 an encounter took place, as part of the Baron's War wherein Henry III of England besieged Simon de Montfort's supporters who were holed in at Northampton Castle. De Montfort mounted a rear-guard rescue attempt but on April 6, 1264 the castle fell and De Montfort's son (another Simon) was captured by the King's forces.
Franklin's Gardens
Franklin's Gardens is a purpose-built rugby stadium in Northampton, England. It is the home stadium of Northampton Saints. The stadium holds 13,591 people. The stadium also has 40 corporate boxes. Each can hold from 8 to 24 people. The four stands are: Tetleys Stand; Burrda Stand; Church's Stand; and Sturtridge Pavilion.
Sol Central Northampton
Sol Central is a leisure complex in Northampton, England that contains a cinema, health club and restaurants among other facilities. It was constructed in 2002 to replace the Barclaycard head office building previously sited there before relocating to the nearby Brackmills industrial estate.
Northampton Castle
Northampton Castle was one of the most famous Norman castles in England. It was built under the stewardship of Simon de Senlis, the first Earl of Northampton, in 1084. It took several years to complete, as there is no mention of it in the Domesday Book, a great survey of England completed in 1086. The castle site was outside the western city gate, and defended on three sides by deep trenches. A branch of the River Nene provided a natural barrier on the western side.
Hunsbury Hill
Hunsbury Hill is an Iron Age hill fort two miles (3 km) south-west of the centre of the town of Northampton in the county of Northamptonshire. It is probable that defences were built at Hunsbury Hill between the 7th and 4th centuries BC. The deep ditch excavated has survived to the present day. A wooden rampart was also constructed; there is evidence that Hunsbury hill fort's inner ramparts were burned down and vitrified; this is rare in England.
St Peter's Church, Northampton
St Peter's Church, Northampton, is a redundant Anglican church in Marefair, Northampton, England. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It is considered to be "the most outstanding Norman church in the county" (Northamptonshire), and "its capital sculpture is one of the highlights of the Romanesque in England". Alec Clifton-Taylor includes the church in his list of 'best' English parish churches.
Marvel's Mill
Marvel's Mill or Marvell's Mill on the River Nene in Northampton, England, was the world's second factory for spinning cotton, the first to be operated as a water mill, and the first to be driven by an inanimate power-source. Opened by Edward Cave in 1742, it used the roller spinning machinery invented by Lewis Paul and John Wyatt, which had first been used in their Upper Priory Cotton Mill in Birmingham in the summer of 1741.
Hunsbury Hill Tunnel
Hunsbury Hill Tunnel is a railway tunnel on the Northampton Loop Line of the West Coast Main Line. The tunnel runs in a straight line from the Briar Hill district of the town of Northampton, England about north by east to the West Hunsbury district south of the town . The tunnel has a single bore with twin tracks and is 1,152 yards long. It is about 1 mile south of Northampton railway station and the next station south is Wolverton.
