Northampton Balloon Festival
The Northampton Balloon Festival is an annual hot air balloon festival held in the English town of Northampton. The original festival was held in The Racecourse and managed by the Borough Council, and took place over a Friday, Saturday and Sunday in mid-August. The main features of the festival were the twice-daily hot air balloon lifts and a balloon glow, but other attractions included trade stalls, live music and arena entertainment.

Northampton Rural District
Northampton was a rural district in Northamptonshire, England from 1894 to 1974. It was created under the Local Government Act 1972 based on the Northampton rural sanitary district. In 1932, under a County Review order, it took in the disbanded Hardingstone Rural District and two parishes from Pottersbury Rural District. The district was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972.

Abington, Northamptonshire
Abington is a district of the town of Northampton to the east of the town centre. Originally a small village outside the borough boundary of Northampton, Abington is mentioned in The Domesday Book. In the 17th century the village was enclosed and depopulated. The outlines of the village's streets can still be seen as can the village's fishpond (although this is now a garden) in Abington Park. The park was given to the town by the Wantage family in the 19th century.

Abington Park, in the Abington district of Northampton, has lakes, aviaries, and a museum, as well as trees and grassy open spaces. The park contains the ruins of the former village of Abington, the site of a medieval manorhouse with a mill attached, mentioned in the Domesday book in 1086.
Nene Whitewater Centre
The Nene Whitewater Centre was the UK's first pumped artificial whitewater course. It is located on the River Nene in Northampton. The course was designed by slalom designers, Proper Channels Ltd and built in 1999 by Wrekin Construction. Water can be partially diverted around a weir via a automatically controlled sluice gate. Additionally, three individually controlled electric pumps can pump water from below the weir into the course.
