Peterborough (electoral district)
Peterborough is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1953. The riding's borders have differed slightly since its creation in 1953, but has always included most or all of Peterborough County and its county seat of Peterborough, Ontario. Prior to 1952, the riding was split in two, sometimes partly joined to neighbouring Hastings County.
Young's Point, Ontario
Young's Point is a small village in Ontario, Canada, established in 1825. It is about 25 km north of Peterborough. Young's Point gets its name from the founders of the village. The Young family settled the area and build the dam and a grist mill here. References are recorded in Susanna Moodie's Book "Roughing it in the Bush. " Later generations ran a store and built and operated the steamboat service for both cargo and passenger service to nearby Stoney Lake.
Katchewanooka Lake
Katchewanooka Lake is one of the Kawartha lakes in south-central Ontario, Canada. It is about 5 miles long and .5 miles wide. The Trent Severn Waterway flows through Lake Katchewanooka into the Otonabee River at its outlet just north of Lakefield, continuing southwest through Peterborough into Rice Lake. Lakefield College School lies on the east side of the lake. Susanna Moodie, author of Roughing it in the Bush (1852), lived on a farm on the lake in the 1830s.
