Episcopal High School (Alexandria, Virginia)

Episcopal High School (also The High School, or Episcopal), founded in 1839, is a private boarding school located in Alexandria, Virginia. The Holy Hill's 130-acre campus houses 435 students from 30 states, the District of Columbia and 17 different countries. The school is 100-percent boarding and is one of only four all-boarding schools in the United States and the only one located in a metropolitan area.

Thornton Friends School was a 6-12 Quaker school with three campuses, two in Silver Spring, Maryland, U.S.A. , and one in Alexandria, Virginia in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The Alexandria campus continues to operate as Alexandria Friends School. Washington-Virginia Airport

The Washington-Virginia Airport was formerly an airport in Fairfax County, Virginia, USA. The airport was first known as Crossroads Airport for the nearby Bailey's Crossroads. In 1942, a license was granted to build and operate an airport but it was not built until 1947 after World War II. The original two gravel runways were paved by 1962. The airport closed in 1970 due to encroaching suburban development from Washington, D.C.

Fort Reynolds (Virginia)

Fort Reynolds was a Union Army redoubt built as part of the defenses of Washington, D.C. , in the American Civil War. The fort was located in Fairlington, Arlington County, Virginia. It was constructed in September 1861 to command the approach to Alexandria by the Four Mile Run valley and was itself protected by nearby Battery Garesche. It had a perimeter of 360 yards (329 m) and emplacements for 12 guns.

Skyline Towers collapse

On March 2, 1973, the center section of the 26-story Skyline Plaza in Bailey's Crossroads, Virginia, in Fairfax County, which borders Arlington and Alexandria, gave way. The cascading concrete and steel killed 14 people and injured 34 others.

Skyline Mall

Skyline Mall was a small enclosed shopping mall located among the high rises of Bailey's Crossroads in Falls Church, Virginia. It opened on the site of a the former Washington-Virginia Airport and the Sunset X-rated drive-in theater. in 1977 to join the offices of Skyline City. At its peak, the mall comprised more than thirty tenants, including a Safeway supermarket and Rite Aid drugstore, and a twelve-screen cinema.

The Four Mile Run Trail is a 7-mile, paved bike trail in Arlington County, Virginia that runs along Four Mile Run from Falls Church to the Mount Vernon Trail near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, where Four Mile Run empties into the Potomac River. Mark Center Building
