The Charter Township of Canton, usually referred to as Canton, is a charter township of Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The commuter town is located 23 miles west of Detroit and 17 miles east of Ann Arbor. As of the 2010 census, the township had a population of 90,173, making it Michigan's second largest township and eleventh largest community. Canton is one of Michigan's fastest growing communities.

Eloise (psychiatric hospital)
Eloise was a large hospital complex located in Nankin Township in western Wayne County. The name came from the post office on the grounds which opened July 20, 1894 and was named Eloise after the postmaster of Detroit's daughter, Eloise. It operated from 1839 to the early 1984 and started out as a poorhouse and farm but developed into an asylum and hospital.

The Quo Vadis Entertainment Center (also known as the Quo Vadis or the Penthouse Theater) was a movie theater in Westland, Michigan. The shuttered theater had remained closed to the public since its closure in 2002 and demolition equipment was delivered on March 8, 2011. Demolition began in March, 2011 and was completed by June 2011.

The airport lies two nautical miles (3.7 km) south of the central business district of Plymouth, in Wayne County. Northwest Airlines Flight 1482
Northwest Airlines Flight 1482 was a flight scheduled from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport to Pittsburgh International Airport. On 3 December 1990 a Douglas DC-9-14 commercial jet operated for the route taxied on to the active runway by mistake in dense fog and was hit by a departing Boeing 727 operating Northwest Airlines Flight 299 to Memphis. One crew and seven occupants of the DC-9 were killed.
Bentley High School (Livonia, Michigan)
George N. Bentley Senior High School, also referred to as Bentley High School, was a public high school in the city of Livonia, Michigan, a western suburb of Detroit. The first public high school in the Livonia Public Schools district, it was open from September 1947 through June 1985. The school's first graduating class in June 1950 had 95 students. The school closed because of low enrollment.
The Canton Historical Society and Museum
The Canton Historical Society and Museum located in Canton, Michigan was originally a one-roomed school house, which was built in 1884. Eloise Cemetery
Eloise Cemetery was the cemetery used by the Eloise hospital complex located in what was then Nankin Township and is now Westland, Michigan. The patients buried in the cemetery were from the Infirmary Division, the William P. Seymour General Hospital, the T.B. Sanitarium and the Eloise Hospital (Psychiatric Division). Tuberculosis was the leading cause of death in the United States at the turn of the century, and a number of the deaths during that time period were from tuberculosis.

Northwest Airlines Flight 253 was an international passenger flight from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands, to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport in Romulus, Michigan, United States. The flight was the target of a failed al-Qaeda bombing attempt on Christmas Day, December 25, 2009, in which a passenger tried to set off plastic explosives sewn to his underwear.
