Erwood railway station

Erwood railway station lay about 1 kilometre from Erwood, Powys, Wales. It was closed on 31 December 1962 and the trackbed removed. It lay on the old Cambrian Railways between Brecon and Builth Wells. The line finally reached Moat Lane junction on the Shrewsbury Machynlleth branch. The station building has been reconstructed by a Derbyshire couple but the platforms remain in situ. The station house is intact with extensions.

Llanfaredd Halt railway station

Llanfaredd Halt railway station was an unstaffed railway station on the Mid Wales and Cambrian railway line, between Builth Wells Station and Erwood railway station. The station consisted of a small wooden platform and shelter, on the eastern side of the single line. Rarely used, the station was demolished on its closure on 31 December 1962. At present, the trackbed is still present and the site of the station can still be found with difficulty though on private land.

Abernant, Powys

Abernant is a hamlet 6 miles south of Builth Wells, Powys. The spring forms above Abernant, near the summit of Banc y Celyn (472m), and runs through Abernant to join the River Wye. There is a large adventure centre, a branch of Manor Adventure, that operates from an old hotel in Abernant. There is also a mine in the hills outside the village.
