Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk (UK Parliament constituency)
Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk is a constituency of the British House of Commons, located in the south of Scotland within the Scottish Borders council area. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) at least once every five years using the First-past-the-post system of voting. Currently, the seat is held by the Liberal Democrat Michael Moore, currently the Secretary of State for Scotland.
Polwarth, Scottish Borders
Polwarth is a village and parish in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. It is located at grid reference NT745502, between Greenlaw and Duns, in the former county of Berwickshire. Other places nearby include the Blackadder Water, Fogo, Langton, Scottish Borders, Longformacus, Marchmont House and Marchmont Estate, Polwarth Parish Church was built in 1703, replacing a 13th century building. Polwarth Castle was situated halfway between Polwarth village and Polwarth Parish Church.
Marchmont House
Marchmont House lies on the east side of the small town of Greenlaw, and near the former village of Polwarth in Berwickshire, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. It is about five miles (8 km) south west of Duns, about 19 miles west of Berwick-upon-Tweed and about 40 miles south east of Edinburgh. Situated in a gently undulating landscape, the estate is intersected by Blackadder Water, and its tributary burns.
Polwarth Parish Church
Polwarth Parish Church was a member church of the Church of Scotland before closing in 2004. It is situated atop a mound off a minor road leading from the A6105, Greenlaw to Duns road in the old county of Berwickshire, now part of the Scottish Borders Council. It lies 4.0 miles south–west of Duns and 3.5 miles east of Greenlaw at grid reference NT749494.
Gavinton, Berwickshire
Gavinton is a small settlement in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, 2 kilometres south-west of Duns, the former county town of Berwickshire. The hamlet sits on a minor road off the A6105 Duns to Greenlaw road at grid reference NT767521.
Langton Castle
Langton Castle is a now destroyed medieval fortress at Langton, near the burgh of Duns, Berwickshire, Scotland. Little remains of the structure. Originally belonging to the Viponts, the castle and its estate passed to the Cockburns in 1330 upon the marriage of Sir Alexander de Cokburne and the heiress Maria de Vipont. The castle was then the caput of the Cockburns of Langton until 1745. From 1389 to 1396, Sir Alexander Cockburn of Langton was the Keeper of the Great Seal of Scotland.
