RAF Aldermaston
For the post World War II use of this facility, see Atomic Weapons Establishment RAF Aldermaston was a World War II airfield. It was used by the Royal Air Force and the United States Army Eighth and Ninth Air Force as a troop carrier (C-47) group base, and was assigned USAAF station No 467.

The church, which is dedicated to St Mary, dates from the mid-12th century and has examples of Norman and Jacobean architecture. The building has had a number of extensions, particularly in the 13th, 14th, 15th and 17th centuries.

Located at grid reference SU612632, the site comprises several habitats including woodland, heathland, grassland and small waterbodies, and includes alder woodland types which are becomong a declining habitat in England.
