Long Meg and Her Daughters, also known as Maughanby Circle, is a Bronze Age stone circle near Penrith in Cumbria, North West England. One of around 1,300 stone circles in the British Isles and Brittany, it was constructed as a part of a megalithic tradition that lasted from 3,300 to 900 BCE, during the Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Age.

Langwathby railway station

Langwathby railway station is a railway station which serves the village of Langwathby in Cumbria, England. It is operated by Northern Rail who provide all passenger train services. The station was built by the Midland Railway and opened in 1876. It closed when local stopping trains over the Settle-Carlisle Line were withdrawn in May 1970, but was reopened in July 1986. The Carlisle-bound (down) station building has been converted into the Brief Encounter Tea Rooms and an antique shop.

Little Meg

Little Meg is a small circle of large kerb stones which probably surrounded a Bronze Age kerb cairn. It is close to the village of Langwathby to the north-east of Penrith in the English county of Cumbria and is 640 metres north-east of the more famous stone circle of Long Meg and Her Daughters. One of the stones was decorated in antiquity with a series of concentric circles and a spiral.

Lacy's Caves

Lacy's Caves are a series of 5 chambers in the red sandstone cliff of River Eden, just north of Little Salkeld, Cumbria, England, near Nunnery, at grid reference NY564383. They are named after Lieutenant-Colonel Samuel Lacy of Salkeld Hall, who commissioned their carving in the 18th century. The reason for their creation is unknown, however they were used by Lacy for entertaining guests and the area was originally planted with ornamental gardens.

The Little Salkeld rail accident occurred between Little Salkeld and Lazonby railway stations in Long Meg cutting on the Settle-Carlisle Line on 19 January 1918. As the 11 carriage 08:50 London St Pancras to Glasgow express approached the cutting a heavy landslip caused by a sudden thaw blocked both roads ahead of the train.
