Wentworth County, area 269,057 acres, is a historic county in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was created in 1816 as part of the Gore District in what was then Upper Canada and later Canada West. It was named in honour of Sir John Wentworth Last Governor of colonial New Hampshire, Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia (1792 to 1808) and intimate friend of William Jarvis, the first Provincial Secretary of Upper Canada.

It was created for the 2007 provincial election. 82.9% of the riding came from Ancaster—Dundas—Flamborough—Aldershot while 17.1% came from Hamilton West. The riding includes all of Hamilton west of a line running along Glancaster Road then to Garner Road then to a Hydroelectric Transmission Line then to Highway 403 to Hamilton Harbour.

Griffin House is a historic house associated with the Underground Railroad, located in the Ancaster community of Hamilton, Ontario . It offers tours and black-history-related programs as part of the Black Heritage Network. Griffin House was designated as a National Historic Site of Canada in 2008. The house is a rare surviving example of a four-room house typical in Upper Canada in the early 19th century.
