It was built in 1956 on the campus of St. Michael's College School in central Toronto, and originally was an outdoor rink. A half-cylinder shape wooden roof was finally built over the ice. The arena was the home to the Toronto St. Michael's Majors of the Ontario Hockey League.
1995 Russell Hill subway accident
The 1995 Russell Hill subway accident was a deadly train crash that occurred in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line of the Toronto subway and RT on August 11, 1995. Three people were killed and 30 were taken to hospital with injuries when one train rear-ended another train. The subway line was shut down for five days following the incident. Investigations found that human error and a design flaw in the mechanical safety devices caused this accident.
Grace Church on-the-Hill
Grace Church on-the-Hill is an Anglican Church of Canada parish in Toronto, Ontario. It is featured in the novel A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving, and is a member of the Churches on the Hill group. It is one of only a handful of Anglican churches in Toronto to regularly celebrate Morning Prayer as the principal Sunday service. It is located at 300 Lonsdale Road, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M4V 1X4. Work on the current building, designed by Eden Smith, began in May, 1912.
Timothy Eaton Memorial Church
Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, in Toronto, Ontario, was erected at 230 St. Clair Avenue West in 1914 as a Methodist congregation, and named for department store founder Timothy Eaton.
