Archiestown

Archiestown is a small village in Moray, Scotland, named in honour of its founder Sir Archibald Grant of Monymusk. It is a typical 18th century planned village with a grid street-plan and spacious square. Originally intended as a weaving centre, it is better known for the nearby distilleries of Cardhu, Knockando, Tamdhu and The Macallan. Glenfarclas distillery

Glenfarclas distillery is a Speyside whisky distillery in Ballindalloch, Scotland. Glenfarclas translates as meaning valley of the green grass. The distillery is owned and run by the Grant family. The distillery has six stills which are the largest on Speyside and are heated directly by gas burners. The distillery has a production capacity of around 90,000 litres of finished whisky per year. Normally four stills are used for production with two kept in reserve.

Carron, Speyside

Carron is an old distillery village on the north bank of the River Spey in Moray, Scotland. It was the site of the Imperial Distillery, though the distillery closed in 1998 and has since been mothballed. Carron had a station on the Strathspey Railway, until the line closed in the 1960s. Imperial Cottages Halt railway station was one of four halts, Imperial Cottages, Gibley's Cottages, Dalvey Farm, and Ballifurth Farm, opened on the Speyside route between Elgin and Aviemore on 15 June 1959, on the introduction of railbuses. Drivers were warned when approaching the halts by white boards stating 'Request Stop 100 Yards Ahead'.
