Maresme is a comarca (county) located along the Catalan Mediterranean coast in Spain, between the comarques of Barcelonès (at the Southwest) and Selva (at the Northeast), and also bordering with Vallès Oriental (at the west). Its capital and largest city is Mataró (pop. 119,035 in 2007).
El Vallès (or simply Vallès) is a historical county in Catalonia, Spain, located in the center of the Catalan Pre-coastal range. It is nowadays represented by two separate administrative divisions which are part of the Barcelona Province, named comarques. One of them is the Western Vallès, which has two capitals, Sabadell and Terrassa, whereas the second comarca is the Eastern Vallès, with Granollers as its capital.
Montgat is a municipality in the comarca of the Maresme in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the coast between Badalona and El Masnou, to the north-east of Barcelona. The town is both a tourist centre and a (somewhat exclusive) dormitory town for Barcelona. The A-19 autopista, the main N-II road and a RENFE railway line run through the town.
The Autovia C-60, also known as the Autovia Mataró-Granollers is a highway in Catalonia, Spain. This is a freeway that connects Mataró (the capital of the comarca of the Maresme) and Granollers (the capital of the comarca of the Vallès Oriental). It connects junction 13 of the Autopista AP-7 with junction 13 of the Autopista Barcelona a Mataró. Although the other motorways are tolled the C-60 is free.
Alella is a Spanish Denominación de Origen (DO) (Denominació d'Origen in Catalan) for wines produced in Maresme county in the Spanish autonomous region of Catalonia, located on the Mediterranean coast, 15 km to the north of the city of Barcelona. It is one of the smallest DOs in Spain as the vineyards have been encroached upon by urban development. At the present time it only covers one third of the area that it covered in 1956 when it was established, despite a territorial extension in 1989.
Badalona Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona Metro)
Badalona Pompeu Fabra is the name of a Barcelona Metro station in downtown Badalona, a municipality in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, served by metro line L2, and its northern terminus. Saveguarded plans for the extension of L1 also include this station. It's named after Pompeu Fabra, grammarian and political figure. If the project is finally approved, it will be part of L13 as well.
Cau del Cargol
The Cau del Cargol Shells of the World Museum is a museum containing a large private collection of shells; it is situated in Vilassar de Dalt. The collection includes over 16,000 worldwide species of mollusc shells, from marine, terretrial and freshwater habitats. The museum was created in the year 1950, when its founder Jaume Bot i Arenas (1904-1983), started to exhibit his own collection to the public. Later he expanded his collection by acquiring other people's collections.
The Dosrius Castle is a castle situated atop a hill, some 246 m above sea level, to the north of Dosrius, in Maresme. Now only ruins, it was first documented in 1114, and is a contemporary of other castles in the area, notably Burriac Castle. Until the beginning of the 15th century it belonged to the Priory of Saint Peter of Casseres.
Roman villa of Can Llauder
The Roman villa of Can Llauder is a Roman site near Mataró, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Built in the first imperial period (1st century BC) and remodeled at the beginning of the 3rd century AD, the villa had a rich decor of marble and mosaics, with traces of stucco and paint. It was owned by several wealthy owners who possibly resided in the villa with his family and their slaves. An inscription has been found linking it to Gaius Marius.

Argentona Water Jug Museum
The Argentona Water Jug Museum (Catalan: Museu del Càntir d'Argentona), founded in 1975, is currently located in a building which opened on 20 July 2000. The origins of the museum can be found in the Water Jug Festival, which is celebrated on 4 August every year since 1951, upholding a traditional celebration dating back to the 17th century, brought about by a ‘vow of the town' to Saint Dominic, patron saint of water, to protect Argentona from a grave pestilence.

The El Masnou Municipal Nautical Museum (Catalan: Museu Municipal de Nàutica del Masnou) is a municipally owned museum, the backbone of which is El Masnou’s relationship with the sea. It is part of the Barcelona Provincial Council Local Museum Network, the Maritime Museums of the Catalan Coast Network and the Mediterranean Maritime Museum Association.
The Mataró Museum is a museum in Mataró, in El Maresme, with a central office in Can Serra, a fortified Renaissance building dating back to 1565. The Museum, which is part of the Barcelona Provincial Council Local Museum Network, also manages the different local heritage centres, such as the Ca l’Arenas Art Centre, part of the Mataró Museum, the Torre Llauder Archaeological Site and the El Montnegre i el Corredor Park Documentation Centre.

Located in the Can Banús farmhouse, records for which date back as far as the 14th century, its main collection can be broken down into four categories: archaeology, textiles, history and the historic archive.

The Vilassar de Mar Municipal Museum (Catalan: Museu Municipal de Vilassar de Mar) is a local museum in Vilassar de Mar comprising two facilities: The Marina Museum, focusing on local history and placing special emphasis on its connection with the nautical world, and the Monjo Museum, which tells the story behind the legacy of Vilassar de Mar sculptor Enric Monjo. The Vilassar de Mar Municipal Museum is part of the Barcelona Provincial Council Local Museum Network.
Tecnocampus is a scientific park in the city of Mataró. It was inaugurated in November 2009 and it includes three faculties (Polythecnic, Economics and Health), more than one hundred enterprises and a conference center. It is member of the Catalan network of scientific and technological parks, member of the Spanish association of scientific and Technological parks, and the unique scientific park in the Maresme region. The building was designed by the prestigious Catalan architect Oriol Bohigas.
