Brauweiler
Brauweiler is a part of Pulheim, west of Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. The former Benedictine abbey, Brauweiler Abbey, founded 1024, is used today by the Rhein Department for the Care of Historic Monuments. In Brauweiler in the 1920s a large power transmission station up which supplied up to 380 kV was built, It was also the starting point of the north south powerline.
Brauweiler Abbey
Brauweiler Abbey is a former Benedictine monastery located at Brauweiler, now in Pulheim near Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, in Germany. It was founded and endowed in 1024 by Pfalzgraf Ezzo, count palatine of Lotharingia of the Ezzonian dynasty and his wife Matilda of Saxony, a daughter of Emperor Otto II and Theophano. Ezzo and Matilda were buried here, as were their two eldest sons Liudolf, Count Palatine of Lotharingia (d. 1031) and Otto II, Duke of Swabia (d. 1047).
Frechen-Königsdorf station
Frechen-Königsdorf station is a station in the town of Königsdorf in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia on the Cologne–Aachen high-speed railway. It is served by S-Bahn line S 12 on the Düren–Horrem–Cologne–Troisdorf–Au (Sieg) route and S 13 on the Horrem–Cologne–Cologne/Bonn Airport–Troisdorf route. In 2000, during the upgrading of the Cologne-Aachen line, Deutsche Bahn renamed Großkönigsdorf station as Frechen-Königsdorf.
