Rideau River
The Rideau River is a Southern Ontario river which flows north from Upper Rideau Lake and empties into the Ottawa River at Rideau Falls in Ottawa, Ontario. Its length is 146 km. The river was given the French name "Rideau" (curtain) after the appearance of this waterfall. The Rideau Canal, which allows travel from Ottawa to the city of Kingston, Ontario on Lake Ontario, was formed by joining the Rideau River with the Cataraqui River.

Gloucester Glen is a community on the Rideau River in eastern Ontario, Canada. It is located in the former City of Gloucester in the City of Ottawa. It is between the communities of Cedardale to the north and Honey Gables to the south, and bound by the Rideau River to the west and River Road to the east, adjacent to the new Riverside South subdivision. It is a very quiet community with many older homes. There are approximately only 45 houses that make up this community.
Watson's Mill
Watson's Mill is a historic gristmill in Manotick, Ontario, Canada. It was built as the Long Island Flouring Mills by Moss Kent Dickinson and Joseph Merrill Currier. It was one of a series of mills constructed in the area using power from the Rideau Canal. It earned its current name when it was purchased by Harry Watson in 1946. The mill remained in operation until 1972 when it was sold to the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority.

North Gower Township, Ontario
North Gower Township is a historical township in eastern Ontario, Canada. North Gower (pronounced "North Gor") was located in the southern part of Carleton County, bordered to the northwest by Goulbourn Township, to the north by Nepean, to the east by Osgoode and to the south by South Gower Township. It is separated from North Grenville and Osgoode by the Rideau River. Originally known as Township C, it was established in 1792.
Osgoode Ward
Osgoode Ward (Ward 20) represents the south end of the City of Ottawa and solely made up of residents of the former Osgoode Township. The current city councillor is Doug Thompson. It contains Greely, Osgoode, Metcalfe, Edwards, Kenmore, Vernon and portions of Manotick. For the 2006 election, the boundaries will be changing to add much of rural southern Gloucester to the ward. The previous boundary was along the former Osgoode Township line, Mitch Owens Road.
North Gower
North Gower is a small village in eastern Ontario, originally part of North Gower Township, now part of the city of Ottawa. Surrounding communities include Richmond, Kemptville, Kars and Manotick. Public high school students in this area go to South Carleton High School in Richmond.
Dalhousie District
The Dalhousie District was a historic district in Upper Canada which existed until 1849. It was created in 1838 from Carleton County in the Bathurst District. Townships from the Johnstown and Ottawa districts were added to Carleton County at the same time. The district town was Bytown, later Ottawa. In 1849, the district was replaced by Carleton County.
St. Mark Catholic High School (Ottawa)
Opened in 1980, St. Mark Catholic High School is located in Manotick, a neighbourhood in the city of Ottawa. Its enrollment is currently around 1100 after losing about 600 students to St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School in 2009 & 2010, after the completion of its construction in 2009. St. Francis Xavier is located just down Limebank Road, less than 10 minutes from St. Mark.
Kars, Ontario
Kars is a village on the Rideau River within the rural section of the city of Ottawa, Ontario. Prior to joining the city in 2000 it was part of Rideau Township. Kars was originally named Wellington. In 1856, in order to distinguish it from another settlement called Wellington in Prince Edward County, the village was renamed Kars - a name chosen to commemorate the siege of the Turkish town of Kars and the Canadian-born General William Fenwick Williams who had undertaken its defense.

This new ward was created in 2006 from parts of Bell-South Nepean and Gloucester-Southgate Wards due to the rapid growth in both communities.
