Thurmont, Maryland

Thurmont is a town in Frederick County, Maryland, United States. The population was 6,170 at the 2010 census. The town is located in the northern part of Frederick County, approximately ten miles from the Pennsylvania border, along U.S. Highway 15. It is very close to Cunningham Falls State Park and Catoctin Mountain Park, which contains the presidential retreat of Camp David. Thurmont was designated in 2005 as a "Main Street Maryland Community."

Catoctin Quaker Camp

Catoctin Quaker Camp (CQC) is a small, Quaker, residential, wilderness summer camp operated by Baltimore Yearly Meeting for Quaker and non-Quaker children aged 9–14. Catoctin is located off of Old Mink Farm Road, on Catoctin Mountain, near Frederick, Maryland. Children come to camp for two- or four-week sessions. National Fallen Firefighters Memorial

National Fallen Firefighters Memorial since 1990 is officially designated by the United States Congress as the National Memorial to career and volunteer fallen firefighters. The Catoctin AVA is an American Viticultural Area located in the Frederick and Washington counties of western Maryland. The region is bordered by Catoctin Mountain to the east, the Pennsylvania border to the north, South Mountain to the west, and the Potomac River to the south. "Catoctin" is Algonquian for "speckled rock", a geological feature of the area. Two commercial wineries operate in the AVA, Frederick Cellars, and Orchid Cellars.

Straw Family Stadium

E.T. Straw Family Stadium is a baseball venue in Emmitsburg, Maryland, United States. It is home to the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers baseball team of the NCAA Division I Northeast Conference. The stadium is part of the larger PNC Sports Complex. In 2007, the stadium underwent $400,000 renovations, thanks to the donation of Mount St. Mary's alumnus E.T. Straw.
