Richmond Castle

Easby Abbey

Easby Abbey or the Abbey of St Agatha is an abandoned Premonstratensian abbey on the eastern bank of the River Swale on the outskirts of Richmond in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire. The site is maintained by English Heritage and can be reached by a riverside walk from Richmond Castle. The Abbey of St. Agatha, Easby, was founded in 1152 by Roald, Constable of Richmond Castle. The inhabitants were canons rather than monks.

Richmond Falls

Richmond Falls are a series of waterfalls along the River Swale, they are situated at grid reference NZ173006 near to the town centre of Richmond, North Yorkshire. They are one of, if not the last waterfalls on the Swale before the river reaches the lower country grounds of the Vale of Mowbray, their normally medial size can be affected easily, much like the rest of the Swale, by heavy rain and flooding, making for dramatic viewing.

Georgian Theatre Royal

The Georgian Theatre Royal is a theatre and historic Georgian playhouse in the market town of Richmond, North Yorkshire, in the United Kingdom. It is among the oldest of Britain's extant theatres. It was built in 1788 by the actor-manager Samuel Butler, it was one of his circuit of theatres, other locations included Northallerton, Ripon and Ulverston. Regular performances at the theatre continued until 1830, when performances became less frequent and in 1848 it was let as an auction house.
