Kirkcarrion
Kirkcarrion is a copse of pine trees, surrounded by a stone wall, on a hilltop near Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham, England. The trees cover a tumulus which is said to be the burial place of a Bronze Age chieftain. The trees were planted by Elija Foster and his son Alan Foster of Lowside Farm in 1936.
Middleton-in-Teesdale railway station
Middleton-in-Teesdale railway station was the terminus of the Tees Valley Railway from Barnard Castle. It served the town of Middleton-in-Teesdale. The station opened to passenger traffic on 12 May 1868, and closed on 30 November 1964.
Grassholme Reservoir
Grassholme Reservoir is a large reservoir in County Durham, England. It is situated in the Lune Valley which is a side valley of the River Tees, about 2 miles south of Middleton-in-Teesdale. It supplies water for Teesdale and Teeside and is owned by Northumbrian Water. Its main recreational use is as an angling centre.
Harter Fell, Lunedale
Harter Fell, Lunedale is an area of upland heath in west County Durham, England. It lies on the watershed between the River Tees to the north-east and the River Lune to the south and reaches a maximum height of 481 metres asl about 1 km north of the hamlet of Thringarth. The northern flanks of the Fell fall just within the southern limit of the Upper Teesdale Site of Special Scientific Interest. The Pennine Way National Trail skirts the south-eastern flank of the Fell.
