Avianca Flight 011, registration HK-2910 (formerly LN-RNA), was a Boeing 747-283B on an international scheduled passenger flight from Frankfurt via Paris, Madrid, and Caracas to Bogotá. Avianca Flight 011 took off from Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) at 22:25 for a flight to Bogotá (BOG) via Madrid (MAD) and Caracas (CCS). The Frankfurt-Paris segment on this day had been cancelled by Avianca.

Torrejón de Ardoz is a town in the urban area of Madrid, Spain that has about 110,000 inhabitants. It is located 20 km east of Madrid, on the Autovía A-2 (Madrid-Barcelona highway). It is essentially a dormitory town, mostly consisting of apartments. It can be reached by bus from Avenida de América bus station in Madrid (approx. 25 minutes) or by commuter train from Madrid Atocha railway station (30 minutes).

2006 Madrid-Barajas Airport bombing
The 2006 Madrid-Barajas Airport bombing occurred on 30 December 2006 when a van bomb exploded in the Terminal 4 parking area at the Madrid-Barajas Airport in Spain, killing two and injuring 52. On 9 January 2007, the Basque nationalist and separatist organisation ETA claimed responsibility for the attack. The attack, one of the most powerful carried out by ETA, damaged the airport terminal and destroyed the entire parking structure.

Henares
The Henares is a river in Spain, tributary of the Jarama. It has its source in the Sierra Ministra, in the village of Horna, near Sigüenza, in the province of Guadalajara. Henares in Spanish is also the plural of henar (derived from the Latin word "fenum"), which means hayfield, because formerly there were hay fields on its banks. Its tributaries are the Torote, the Sorbe, the Cañamares, the Salado, the Dulce, the Aliendre and the Bornova.
Spanair Flight 5022
Spanair Flight JK 5022, from Madrid-Barajas Airport to Gran Canaria Airport in Gran Canaria, Spain, crashed just after take off from runway 36L of Barajas Airport at 14:24 CEST on 20 August 2008. The aircraft was a McDonnell Douglas MD-82, registration EC-HFP. It was the first fatal accident for Spanair (part of the SAS Group) in the 20-year history of the company, and the 14th fatal accident and 24th hull loss involving MD-80 series aircraft.
Aeropuerto T4 (Madrid Metro)
Aeropuerto T4 is a station on Line 8 of Madrid Metro on the lower level of the new terminal T4 of Madrid-Barajas Airport. The station was opened on May 3, 2007 and presents the particularity of requiring the payment of a special supplement of 1 € for users of single ticket or Metrobus, just as happens in the station Airport T1-T2-T3.

Aeropuerto T1-T2-T3 is a station on Line 8 of Madrid Metro next to the terminal T2 of Barajas airport in the Madrid district of the same name. The station opened to the public on June 14, 1999 under the name Airport, being opened by the King and Queen of Spain together with the chairman of the Community of Madrid. The construction of the station and part of the line to which it belongs has been funded cohesion of the European Union.

Estadio La Peineta, also known as Estadio de la Comunidad or Estadio Olímpico de Madrid, is a stadium in Madrid, Spain. The stadium had a capacity of 20,000 spectators, but a reconstruction for Atletico's move will expand the stadium to 70,000 spectators. The Madrid runway disaster was the collision on 7 December 1983 of two aircraft on the ground at Madrid-Barajas Airport. A departing Iberia Boeing 727 struck an Aviaco McDonnell Douglas DC-9, causing the deaths of 93 passengers and crew.
