Zollern
Zollern, from 1218 Hohenzollern, was a county of the Holy Roman Empire. Its ruling dynasty was the House of Hohenzollern, a Swabian noble family first mentioned in 1061. They named their estates after Hohenzollern Castle at the Swabian Alb; its capital was Hechingen. Its coat of arms was that of the ruling house. According to the medieval chronicler Berthold of Reichenau, the nobleman Burkhard I, Count of Zollern (de Zolorin) was born before 1025 and died in 1061.

Battle of Minden
The Battle of Minden—or Tho(r)nhausen—was fought on 1 August 1759, during the Seven Years' War. An army fielded by the Anglo-German alliance commanded by Field Marshal Ferdinand, Duke of Brunswick, defeated a French army commanded by Marshal of France Louis, Marquis de Contades. In Britain, the victory was considered one of several fortuitous events that constituted the Annus Mirabilis of 1759.
Porta Westfalica (gorge)
The Porta Westfalica is a gorge and water gap, where the Weser river runs through the passage between the mountain chains of the Wiehengebirge in the west and the Wesergebirge (part of the Weserbergland) in the east. It is located in the district of Minden-Lübbecke in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Since 1973 Porta Westfalica is also the name of a town, which was established by merging fifteen villages surrounding the gorge. Since 2006 it is a National Geotope.

Heyden Power Station
Heyden power station is located near Petershagen in Germany. The current station was commissioned in 1987, but the site has been used for power generation since 1950. It is owned and operated by the German energy corporation E. ON. It is a coal-fired station with the largest unit capacity of any European power station: 865 MW.
Jakobsberg Telecommunication Tower
Jakobsberg Telecommunication Tower is a 142 metre tall TV tower built of reinforced concrete on the 238 metre high elevated Jakobsberg near Porta Westfalica. Jakobsberg Telecommunication Tower was built May 1st, 1974 and September 28th, 1978 as replacement for a small telecommunication tower also equipped with an observation deck, which was built in 1952 on the site of the former Bismarck column, erected in 1902.

Minden Aqueduct
The Minden Aqueduct is an aqueduct near Minden, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It actually consists of two parallel water bridges, that lead the Mittelland Canal over the Weser. The older of the two bridges is no longer used for shipping. After the Magdeburg Water Bridge, it is the second biggest aqueduct in Europe. The aqueduct is part of an intersection of waterways: the Mittelland Canal is connected with the Weser by two branch, or link, canals.
Bundesbahn Central Offices
The Bundesbahn Central Offices or BZA in Minden and Munich was the department of the Deutsche Bundesbahn responsible for technological development and procurement of rail vehicles and infrastructure. Additionally accounting and statistical services as well as technical standards for the West German state railway system were provided by the BZA. After the formation of the Deutsche Bahn AG DB Systemtechnik inherited responsibility for technological development and procurement.
Bückeberg
The Bückeberg (also the Bückeberge) is a ridge in the Calenberg Uplands between the Harrl and the Deister in central Germany, and is often considered part of the Weser Uplands. It lies in the district of Schaumburg, and stretches for some 20 km from west to east from Bückeburg and the village of Bad Eilsen towards Bad Nenndorf.
Wittekindsberg
The Wittekindsberg is a hill, 281.48 m above sea level, which forms the easternmost peak of the Wiehen Hills and is also the western guardian of the Weser gorge, the Porta Westfalica, in North Rhine-Westphalia. The hill is well-known, especially as the site of the Emperor William Monument (Kaiser Wilhelm Denkmal), but also for the Moltke Tower and Wittekind Castle.
Middle Weser Valley
The Middle Weser Valley is part of the Weser Depression around the River Weser on the North German Plain, extending from the gap of Porta Westfalica to the town of Hoya. It is not a true valley, because it is only bordered by low hills at two points. It lies in the German federal states of Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.
