The Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a residential community for senior citizens, particularly those unable to care for themselves. It came about when Dr. Joseph Wong witnessed the lack of emotional support and difficulty in communicating for Chinese seniors within mainstream medical facilities. The neighbourhood is centered around Old Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue, bounded by 14th Ave E to the North, Markham Road to the East, Finch Avenue East to the South and Warden Avenue to the West. The high school's construction was not scheduled to finish until January 1989 because of a construction worker strike. Built by Cedarland Properties Limited in 1990, it attempts to mirror and mimic a rural town Ontario; the northwest and southeast façades feature barn-like and farm house designs. In the 1800s and early 1900s, the property was farmland. Market Village was built as a retail addition to the Cullen Country Barns located to the west side of the new mall along Kennedy Road.
