Jefferson County is a county located in the state of Ohio. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 69,709, which is a decrease of 5.7% from 73,894 in 2000. Its county seat is Steubenville and is named for Thomas Jefferson, who was at the time Vice President. Jefferson County is part of the Weirton-Steubenville, WV-OH Micropolitan Statistical Area a subsection of the Pittsburgh Tri-State combined statistical area.
