Highlands is a borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 5,005, reflecting a decline of 92 (-1.8%) from the 5,097 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 248 (+5.1%) from the 4,849 counted in the 1990 Census. It is the home town of film maker, director, and comic book writer Kevin Smith. The eastern part of the town is built on a high bluff that overlooks Sandy Hook and the Atlantic Ocean.

Hartshorne Woods Park is a 736-acre county park located in Northern Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States, in New Jersey's Bayshore Region. The park has 16 miles of trails, several old military bunkers and a small beach with a fishing pier. It is roughly bordered to the north and west by Navesink Ave and Route 36. Its southern borders are Hartshorne Road and the Navesink River. Its eastern border is the Upper Shrewsbury River.

Highlands – Sea Bright Bridge

The Highlands-Sea Bright Bridge was a 1,240-foot drawbridge, built in 1932 and opened the following year, to connect Highlands, New Jersey in the west to Sea Bright, New Jersey in the east, across the Shrewsbury River. The eastern terminus is at the entrance to Sandy Hook. The span is part of Route 36. Between 2008 and 2011 it was replaced with a fixed-span bridge instead of a bascule bridge. It rises 65 feet, taller than the original span's 35-foot measurement.

Highlands Air Force Station

Highlands Air Force Station was a Navesink Highlands military installation in Middletown Township near the borough of Highlands, New Jersey. The station provided ground-controlled interception radar coverage as part of the Lashup Radar Network and the Semi-Automatic Ground Environment network, as well as providing radar coverage for the Highlands Army Air Defense Site. The site's 240 acres is now the Rocky Point section in Hartshorne Woods Park of the Monmouth County Parks System.
