Sylvan Lake is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,720 at the 2010 census. It borders Pontiac, the county seat, northeast.
Cass Lake (Michigan)
Cass Lake is the largest lake in Oakland County, Michigan. It covers 1,280 acres (5 km²) and has a maximum depth of 123 ft (37 m). It is bordered by the cities, villages, and townships of Waterford Township, West Bloomfield Township, Orchard Lake Village, and Keego Harbor. Dodge #4 State Park is located on the lake. Cass Lake was named after former Michigan governor Lewis Cass. It is a popular public lake of the Metro Detroit region.
Orchard Lake
Orchard Lake is a medium-sized inland lake, 795 acres (3.2 km²). It has a 110 feet (34 m) maximum depth and is in the city of Orchard Lake Village, Oakland County, in Michigan, USA. It is the second-largest lake in Oakland County after Cass Lake. The lake is unusual in that there is a large 35 acre (142,000 m²) island in the middle of the lake, Apple Island.

The Polish Home Army Museum in Orchard Lake, Michigan is dedicated to the memory of the brave men and women of the Armia Krajowa during World War II. The Museum tells the story of the struggle for the freedom and independence of Poland during World War II. On September 1, 1939, without declaring war, the Nazi German Army, Navy, and Air Forces invaded Poland from the north, west and south. Sixteen days later, on September 17, the Soviet Union also attacked Poland from the east.
Apple Island (Michigan)
Apple Island is a 35-acre island that lies in the middle of Orchard Lake, in Orchard Lake Village, Michigan. The island was formed during the region's last ice age, 10,000 to 12,000 years ago. Over 400 species of flora currently inhabit the island, including many rare varieties in Oakland County. Native Americans previously inhabited Apple Island, until ceding the island to the United States in the Treaty of Detroit.
