Its county seat is Akron. It was named "Summit County" because the highest elevation on the Ohio and Erie Canal is located in the county. Summit County is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Montrose is an area on the border between the Bath and Copley Townships of Summit County, Ohio, United States. It is an area of restaurants, stores, and businesses located along a stretch of State Route 18 near Interstate 77. The community is served by the Akron (44333) post office. Rolling Acres Mall was a retail mall located in the Rolling Acres area of Akron, Ohio, United States. Built in 1975 and expanded several times in its history, it once comprised more than 140 stores, including five anchor stores, a movie theater and a food court. The mall was closed off in 2008, save for the only two anchors still in operation, Sears and JCPenney Outlet. However, in January 2011, Sears Holdings announced the Sears store would close by April 2011.

Summit Mall

Summit Mall is a one-story, 770,000-square-foot enclosed shopping mall located at 3265 W. Market Street in the Akron suburb of Fairlawn. While its mailing address is Akron, the mall is located in Fairlawn. Edward J. DeBartolo, Sr. 's DeBartolo Corporation built the mall, which opened on October 28, 1965. Today, it is owned by Simon Property Group. Currently, Summit Mall comprises more than 120 stores and a food court; anchor stores include Macy's and two Dillard's locations.
