Pleasantville is a village in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 7,019 at the 2010 census. It is located in the town of Mount Pleasant. Pleasantville is home to a campus of Pace University and to the Jacob Burns Film Center. Pleasantville was the original home of Reader's Digest, which still uses a Pleasantville postal address.

Pleasantville (Metro-North station)
The Pleasantville Metro-North Railroad station serves the residents of Pleasantville, New York, via the Harlem Line. Trains leave or arrive approximately every 20 minutes during peak periods, hourly otherwise. It is 30.5 miles from Grand Central Terminal and the average travel time to Grand Central is 47 minutes. There is also bus service to the station from Pace University. This station is located in the Zone 5 Metro-North fare zone.
Choate House (New York)
There is a Choate House in Massachusetts, formerly owned by the same Choate family. Choate House was built in 1867 by shoe manufacturer Samuel Baker in what is now Pleasantville, New York. It later became the residence of Dr. George C.S. Choate. Choate added a wing as a private sanitarium to accommodate patients being treated for mental and nervous disorders. Horace Greeley died in Choate house on November 29, 1872. After the death of Dr.
Thornwood (Metro-North station)
Thornwood was a station on the Harlem Line of the Metro-North Railroad which served the residents of the hamlet of Thornwood, New York until its closure in 1984. During its existence, the station was one of the most lightly used on the Harlem Line. Prior to closing it had only half the weekday service of the neighboring Hawthorne and Pleasantville stations, and was merely a flag stop for four trains on weekends.
Battle of Young's House
The Battle of Young's House was a skirmish fought outside New York City between British and American forces on February 3, 1780 during the American Revolutionary War. A British force attacked and destroyed a Continental Army outpost in Westchester County, New York.
2006 Westchester County tornado
The 2006 Westchester County tornado was the strongest and largest tornado in the history of Westchester County, New York. It touched down there on July 12, 2006 and traveled 13 miles into southwestern Connecticut during a 33-minute span through two states. The tornado touched down at 3:30 p.m. EDT on the shore of the Hudson River before becoming a waterspout and traveling 3 mi across the river.
