Hawthorne Circle
The Hawthorne Circle was a notably dangerous traffic circle located in Hawthorne, New York in Westchester County until 1972 when it was replaced with a three-level interchange. The circle once connected three busy highways, the Bronx River Parkway, the Taconic State Parkway, and the Saw Mill River Parkway. With over 67,000 cars passing through the area daily, a traffic circle would be even more dangerous today than it was in 1972.

2006 Westchester County tornado
The 2006 Westchester County tornado was the strongest and largest tornado in the history of Westchester County, New York. It touched down there on July 12, 2006 and traveled 13 miles into southwestern Connecticut during a 33-minute span through two states. The tornado touched down at 3:30 p.m. EDT on the shore of the Hudson River before becoming a waterspout and traveling 3 mi across the river.
2009 Taconic State Parkway crash
The 2009 Taconic State Parkway crash was a traffic collision that occurred shortly after 1:30 on Sunday, July 26, 2009, on the Taconic State Parkway near Briarcliff Manor, New York. Eight people were killed when a minivan driven by 36-year-old Diane Schuler, after traveling 1.7 miles in the wrong direction on the parkway, collided head-on with an oncoming SUV. The deaths included Schuler, her daughter and three nieces, and the three passengers in the SUV.
