Sanjak of Acre

The Sanjak of Acre was a prefecture of the Ottoman Empire, located in modern-day northern Israel. The city of Acre was the sanjak's capital. Acre was captured by the Ottoman Sultan Selim I in 1517, but the city fell into disuse soon thereafter. Acre was the center of a major economic boom under the leadership of Dahar al-Omar during the late 18th century. The sanjak of Acre was created c. early 19th century as a prefecture of the Sidon Eyalet.

Belus River

Belus or Belos is a small river in north-western Israel, where according to legend, mentioned by Isidore of Seville in his Etymologiae glass-making was invented. This river is identified with what is now called the Na'aman River, near Acre. Pliny the Elder (N.H. 5.19), using the name 'Pacida', mentions that the river flowed from Lake Cendevia for five miles (8 km) to the sea near "Ptolemais Ace", and that it was celebrated for its vitrous sands.

Shrine of Bahá'u'lláh

The Shrine of Bahá'u'lláh, located in Bahjí near Acre, Israel, is the most holy place for Bahá'ís and represents their Qiblih, or direction of prayer. It contains the remains of Bahá'u'lláh and is near the spot where he died in the Mansion of Bahjí. Mansion of Bahjí

The Mansion of Bahjí is a summer house in Acre, Israel where Bahá'u'lláh, the founder of the Bahá'í Faith, died in 1892. His shrine is located next to this house. The whole area was called Al-Bahjá (Place of Delight). The area was originally a garden planted by Suleiman Pasha, who was the ruler of Acre, for his daughter Fatimih, and he named it Bahji. Later the area was further beautified by `Abdu'llah Pasha, and in 1831 when Ibrahim Pasha besieged Acre he used the property as his headquarters.

The Armistice of Saint Jean d'Acre (also known as the Convention of Acre) concluded the Syria-Lebanon Campaign of World War II. It was an armistice signed between Allied forces in the Middle East under the command of British General Henry Maitland Wilson, and Vichy France forces in Syria and Lebanon, under the command of General Henri Dentz, Commander in Chief of the Army of the Levant and as High Commissioner of the Levant. The Mateh Asher Regional Council is a regional council in the western Galilee of northern Israel. It is named after the Tribe of Asher which had been allotted the region in antiquity according to the Book of Joshua . It was founded in 1982 as a merger of three regional councils: Ga'aton, Na'aman and Sulam Tzur. The council's offices are located on Highway 4, between Regba and Lohamei HaGeta'ot.

1979 Nahariya attack

The 1979 Nahariya attack (codenamed by its perpetrators as the Nasser Operation) was a raid by four Palestine Liberation Front (PLF) militants in Nahariya, Israel on April 22, 1979. The group, consisting of Abdel Majeed Asslan, Mhanna Salim al-Muayed, and Ahmed al-Abras, and led by 16-year-old Samir Kuntar, used a small, 55 horsepower boat to travel from Tyre, Lebanon to Israel.

Acre Prison

The 1974 Nahariya attack was a raid by three Palestinian militants, belonging to the Fatah militant organization, which took place during the night between 24 and 25 June 1974.
