Tel Aviv-Jerusalem bus 405 suicide attack
The Tel Aviv-Jerusalem bus 405 attack was a suicide attack on 6 July 1989 carried out by Abed al-Hadi Ghaneim of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. On a crowded Egged commuter bus line No. 405 en route from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem, Ghanim seized the steering wheel of the bus, running it off a steep cliff into a ravine in the area of Qiryat Ye'arim. 16 civilians died in the attack—including two Canadians and one American, and 27 were wounded.
Ein Rafa
Ein Rafa is an Israeli Arab village ten kilometers west of Jerusalem, Israel. Located across Route 1 from Abu Ghosh, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Yehuda Regional Council. In 2006 it had a population of 865.

Kiryat Ye'arim Youth Village is a youth village in central Israel. Located near Kiryat Ye'arim to the north of Abu Ghosh, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Yehuda Regional Council. Ein Hemed
Ein Hemed is a national park and nature reserve in the hills seven kilometers west of Jerusalem, Israel. It is also known by its Latin name Aqua Bella. The park is located on the path of an old Roman road, also used in later periods, called Emmaus by the Crusaders. The road connected the coastal plain with the Jerusalem hills.
Al-Lawz, Khirbat
Al-Lawz, Khirbat was a Palestinian Arab village in the District of Jerusalem. It was depopulated during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War on July 13, 1948 by the Har'el Brigade of Operation Dani. It was located 11 km west of Jerusalem, situated north of Wadi al-Sarar. In 1945, the village had a population of 450. Khirbat al-Lawz had a shrine dedicated to a local sage known as al-Shaykh Salama.

Sataf was an Arab village in the District of Jerusalem depopulated during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. It is located 10 km west of Jerusalem, with Sorek riverbed ("Wadi al-Sarar") bordering the east. Two springs, "Ein Sataf" and "Ein Bikura" flow from the site into the riverbed, below.
