Strzelecki Ranges
The Strzelecki Ranges, also known as the Strzelecki Hills is a low mountain range in the Gippsland region of south-eastern Australia between the Latrobe Valley to the north and Bass Strait to the south. It is named after Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, a Polish explorer, who led an expedition through this region in the 1840s. A mosaic of Wet Forest, populated by 90 metre tall Mountain Ash and Temperate rainforest originally covered the ranges.
Strzelecki railway station
Strzelecki was the original terminus station on the Strzelecki railway line in Victoria, Australia. It closed on 22 November 1930, after a timber trestle bridge on the section of line between Triholm and Strezlecki developed a large sway every time a train passed over it. It was deemed uneconomical to rebuild it and the section was closed after being in operation for only eight years. After this closure the terminus station was Triholm.
