Oakmont, Pennsylvania
Oakmont is a borough in Allegheny County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is a Pittsburgh suburb and part of the Pittsburgh Metro Area. Nicknamed "One Square Mile of Happiness" by the local folk. "The population was 6,303 at the 2010 census. Incorporated as a town in 1889, this Allegheny River community began in 1816 when a farmer, Michael Bright, bought a large tract of land 15 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

The 2007 United States Open Championship was the 107th U.S. Open, played from June 14 to June 17 at Oakmont Country Club. The U.S. Open returned to Oakmont for the first time since 1994 when Ernie Els captured his first major championship. Ángel Cabrera won the championship after Jim Furyk and Tiger Woods were unable to birdie the 72nd hole to force a playoff. Cabrera's victory marked the first U.S. Open championship won by an Argentine or a South American.

The 1994 U.S. Open was the 94th U.S. Open. The golf tournament was held June 16–20, 1994, at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, a suburb northeast of Pittsburgh. Ernie Els won his first major title on the second sudden-death hole to defeat Loren Roberts, after Colin Montgomerie was eliminated in an 18-hole playoff. Els shot a third-round 66 to take a two-shot lead going into the final round. At the start of the round, Els was the beneficiary of a controversial ruling.

The 1983 U.S. Open was the 83rd U.S. Open. The golf tournament was held June 16–20, 1983, at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, a suburb northeast of Pittsburgh. Larry Nelson won his first U.S. Open with a score of 280, one stroke ahead of defending champion Tom Watson. Watson and Seve Ballesteros shared the 54-hole lead, with Larry Nelson a stroke back. Nelson was 7-over after four holes in his third round, but then finished in 7-under to get within a shot of the lead.

The 1973 U.S. Open was the 73rd U.S. Open. The golf tournament was held June 14–17, 1973, at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. In one of the finest performances in tournament history, Johnny Miller fired a final-round 63 to win his first major championship.

Jack Nicklaus defeated Arnold Palmer in an 18-hole playoff that marked only the beginning of their legendary rivalry. For Nicklaus, it was his first professional win, the first of four U.S. Open titles and a record 18 major championships. Though just 22, it was Nicklaus' sixth U.S.

The 1978 PGA Championship was the 60th PGA Championship, played August 3-6 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, a suburb northeast of Pittsburgh. John Mahaffey won his only major championship in a sudden-death playoff over Jerry Pate and Tom Watson. Watson led the tournament each day and held a five-shot lead after 54 holes, but he faltered on Sunday with a 73 (+2) in his best opportunity for a PGA Championship, the only major he has never won.
2010 U.S. Women's Open Golf Championship
The 2010 United States Women's Open Golf Championship was the 65th U.S. Women's Open, played from July 8 to July 11, 2010 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, a suburb northeast of Pittsburgh. It was the second U.S. Women's Open held at Oakmont; the 1992 edition was won by Patty Sheehan in a playoff.

The 1992 U.S. Women's Open Golf Championship was contested from July 23 to July 27 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, a suburb northeast of Pittsburgh. It was the 47th edition of the U.S. Women's Open and the first at Oakmont, set at 6,312 yards, at the time, the second-longest course in U.S. Women's Open history. The champion was Patty Sheehan, the winner of an 18-hole Monday playoff over runner-up Juli Inkster, 72 to 74.
