Down District Council is a Local Council in County Down in Northern Ireland. The Council is headquartered in Downpatrick. The Downpatrick & County Down Railway is a heritage railway in County Down, Northern Ireland. The project is based at Downpatrick, on part of the former route of the Belfast & County Down Railway. The railway, which has a triangular layout, connects two local tourist attractions, Inch Abbey to the north, and a locally famous Viking site to the south, and will eventually reach an 18th century corn mill to the south.

Inch Abbey is a large, ruined monastic site 0.75 miles (1.2 km) north-west of Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland, on the north bank of the River Quoile in a hollow between two drumlins and featuring early Gothic architecture. The site is mostly in State Care and is at grid ref: J477455, off the main road to Belfast.

The Ballynahinch River, flowing east through Ballynahinch, and the Carson's Dam River, flowing south through Crossgar, join at Kilmore, and the united stream is called the Annacloy River, and lower down the River Quoile, falling into the southwest angle of Strangford Lough near Downpatrick.
The Meadow, Downpatrick
The Meadow is a cricket ground in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1967, when Ulster Country played Ulster Town. In 1983, the ground hosted what is the only first-class match to be played there when Ireland played Scotland, which resulted in an Irish victory by 5 wickets. In 1990, the ground hosted its first List A match when Ireland played Sussex in the NatWest Trophy.
