SS Rotterdam

The fifth SS Rotterdam, known as "The Grande Dame", was launched by Queen Juliana in a gala ceremony on 13 September 1958, and completed the following summer. The Rotterdam was the last great Dutch "ship of state", employing the finest artisans from the Netherlands in her construction and fitting out process. With a career spanning forty years, she was also one of the most successful passenger ships of all time. She sailed from 1959 until her final retirement in September 2000.

Montevideo (Rotterdam)

Montevideo is a 43-storey, 139.5 m residential skyscraper on the river Nieuwe Maas in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The Montevideo logo on the roof is an 8 by 8 m (by ft) letter "M" which brings the tower's total height to 152.3 m . The logo is also designed to be a giant wind vane. Katendrecht

D'Oliphant

The D'Oliphant, also written as De Oliphant, was commissioned in 1591 by Cornelis van Wijkcool as "boerenbehuizinge" built near Nieuwesluis on the island Voorne. Oliphant translates into "Elephant" although the current spelling of the Dutch word is Olifant. The octagonal tower part of the house was probably designed to give the allure of a knight homestead and to suggest that the owner belonged to an ancient and noble family.
