World Esperanto Association
The World Esperanto Association is the largest international organization of Esperanto speakers, with members in 121 countries and in official relations with the United Nations and UNESCO. In addition to individual members, seventy national Esperanto organizations are affiliated with UEA. Its current president is the Indian linguist Probal Dasgupta. UEA was founded in 1908 by the Swiss journalist Hector Hodler and others, and is now headquartered in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Hector Hodler Library
The Hector Hodler Library is one of the largest Esperanto libraries, with approximately 30,000 books, with periodicals, manuscripts, photos, music, and other collections. It occupies three rooms in the central office of the Universal Esperanto Association in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The library is originated in Switzerland, when the Swiss Esperanto Society opened a library in 1908. In 1912, the library came to the possession of Hector Hodler, the founder of Universal Esperanto Association (UEA).
Euromast
Euromast is an observation tower in Rotterdam, Netherlands, designed by Hugh Maaskant constructed between 1958 and 1960. It was specially built for the 1960 Floriade, and is a listed monument since 2010. The tower is a concrete structure with an internal diameter of 9 m and a wall thickness of 30 cm . For stability it is built on a concrete block of 1,900,000 kg so that the centre of gravity is below ground. It has a "crow's nest" observation platform 96 m above-ground and a restaurant.
Delfshaven
Delfshaven is a borough of Rotterdam on the right bank of river Nieuwe Maas, in South Holland, the Netherlands. It was a separate municipality until 1886. The town of Delfshaven grew around the port of the city of Delft. Delft itself was not located on a major river, so in 1389 a harbour was created about 10 km due south of the city, to be able to receive seafaring vessels and avoid tolls being levied by the neighbouring and competing city of Rotterdam.

Maastunnel
The Maastunnel is a tunnel in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, connecting the banks of the Nieuwe Maas. About 75,000 motor vehicles and a large number cyclists, mopeds and pedestrians use the tunnel daily, making the Maastunnel an important part of Rotterdam's road network. Building commenced in 1937 and finished in 1942. There was no official opening ceremony, but the Dutch held an unofficial opening ceremony in secret without Nazi participation.
Coolhaven (Rotterdam Metro)
Coolhaven is an underground subway station in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. It is served by Rotterdam Metro lines A, B, and C. The station, with one island platform, opened on May 10, 1982 as the western terminus of the East-West Line (also formerly called Calandlijn). Coolhaven was the terminus until 1986, when the line was extended to Marconiplein. The station is named for the adjacent Coolhaven harbour basin. At the end of 2006 the station was renovated.
Dijkzigt (Rotterdam Metro)
Dijkzigt is an underground subway station in the city of Rotterdam, and is served by Rotterdam Metro lines A, B, and C. The station is located next to the Erasmus MC (the biggest hospital in the Netherlands) and the Erasmus University. Dijkzigt station was opened on 10 May 1982 as a station of the East-West Line (or Caland line). The station is located underneath the Rochussenstraat. Overground people can get on at busline 44 and 46. The station hall houses a small RET office and a few shops.
Erasmus MC
The Erasmus MC (medical center) is the academic hospital of the city of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. It is affiliated with the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, and home to its faculty of medicine. With 1320 beds it is the second largest hospital of The Netherlands, only 19 beds behind UMC Groningen. The hospital has three locations: Erasmus MC - the main location. Erasmus MC - Sophia, the pediatric hospital, closely connected to the main location by a raised glass hallway.
Charlois
Charlois is a neighbourhood of the Dutch city of Rotterdam. It is located on the south bank of the Meuse River. Charlois used to be a separate village; the municipality Charlois existed until 1895, when it became part of Rotterdam.

Delfshaven (Rotterdam Metro)
Delfshaven is an underground subway station in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. It is served by lines A, B, and C of the Rotterdam Metro. The station is part of the two station long extension of the East-West Line (or Caland line) and opened on April 25, 1986. This extension connected the line's former terminus Coolhaven with the new Marconiplein station. In 2001, Delfshaven station was renovated. Since then, the walls of the station show traditional Delft blue motives.
Marnix Gymnasium
The Marnix Gymnasium is a secondary school located in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The school is named after Philips of Marnix, lord of Saint-Aldegonde. It teaches only the highest variant of secondary education in the Netherlands and prepares students for a tertiary education at Dutch universities.
Schiecentrale
The Schiecentrale is a national monument in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The building is formed by two building blocks connected by a deck. There is a higher and a lower block. The higher block, which is 16 levels high, is the most impressive one. The higher block gives the essential feature to the Schiecentrale. The higher block has two long facades: one facade is parallel to the street Lloydstraat to the East and the other facade is parallel to the street Schiehavenkade to the West.

Parkheuvel
Parkheuvel is a restaurant in Rotterdam, Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that is awarded one or more Michelin stars from 1990 to present. At its top it had three Michelin stars. GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 18.0 points (out of 20 points). The restaurant is located at Heuvellaan 21 in Rotterdam, in a semicircular modern pavilion with a view over the Maas and Rotterdam Harbour. The pavilion is decorated in art deco style.
Dutch ship Delft (1783)
The Delft was a Dutch 56-gun fourth rate ship of the line of the navy of the Dutch Republic and the Batavian Republic. The order to construct the ship was given on 27 May 1782 by the Admiralty of the Meuse. The ship was commissioned on 16 May 1783 by the United Netherlands Navy. On 24 December 1787 the Delft set sail on a mission against the Barbary pirates and protected Dutch traders in the Mediterranean.
Beukelsdijk
Beukelsdijk is a street in Rotterdam, which connects Rotterdam with Schiedam and which leads from the crossing with the Henegouwerlaan near the tunnel traverse (where it continues from the Weena), to the Burgemeester Meineszplein in the neighbourhood Middelland, where it continues as the Beukelsweg. The G.W. Burgerplein (where the villa in which Pim Fortuyn lived is located) lies next to the Beukelsdijk.
Richard Visser
Richard Visser is a Dutch pastry chef (aged 42 in December 2011) who runs a pastry stand (Dutch: Richard Visser's Gebakkraam; located on the corner of the Heemraadssingel and the Vierambachtsstraat in Rotterdam) which mainly sells oliebollen. In 2011 his oliebollen have been named the best in the Netherlands by the Algemeen Dagblad national newspaper in their AD-Oliebollentest for the eighth time in the 19th year the test was held.
