Düsseldorf-Gerresheim
Gerresheim is one of the City of Düsseldorf, Germany's forty-nine boroughs. It is located in the eastern part of the municipality. Gerresheim is much older than Düsseldorf itself, having been an independent city with a rich history for over 1,000 years. Gerresheim merged voluntarily with Düsseldorf in 1909. The borough had 28,209 inhabitants and covered 6.47 square kilometers as of December 31, 2007.
Düsseldorf-Ludenberg
Ludenberg is an urban borough of Düsseldorf. It borders on Gerresheim, Grafenberg, Hubbelrath and Rath. Until the beginning of the 19th century Ludenberg belonged to the mayors office of Gerresheim together with Erkrath, Vennhausen, Unterbach, Morp, Dorp and Bruchhausen. In 1852 the office of Gerresheim was divorced into Gerresheim-city and Gerresheim-countryside. So Ludenberg became an independent village with its own mayor.
Düsseldorf-Vennhausen
Vennhausen is an urban borough of Düsseldorf. It borders on Unterbach, Eller and Gerresheim. A few hundred years ago the area was swamp, moor and fen, hence the name for the settlement Vennhausen, which is derived from "Venn", a Low German word for fen. Vennhausen became a settlement much later than its neighbouring bouroughs, starting in the Tannenhof. In 1809 Vennhausen became a part of the communal district of Gerresheim due to the Napoleonic area reforms at that time.
Düsseldorf-Hubbelrath
Hubbelrath is an urban bourough of Düsseldorf. It borders to Gerresheim, Mettmann, Erkrath and Ratingen. The name comes from the old estate Hupoldesroth, which was written mentioned first time in 950 A.C. Hubbelrath was a farming settlement with an old romanic church.
Düsseldorf-Unterbach
Unterbach was a local borough of Erkrath, Germany, until 1975, when it became an urban borough of Düsseldorf in a local reorganisation. A portion of the pre-1975 Unterbach remains as the borough of Erkrath-Unterfeldhaus. The eastern end of the borough of Düsseldorf-Vennhausen was attached to Unterbach during the reorganisation since it was already culturally associated with Unterbach.
