Harz
The Harz is the highest mountain range in northern Germany and its rugged terrain extends across parts of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. The name Harz derives from the Middle High German word Hardt or Hart (mountain forest), Latinized as Hercynia. The legendary Brocken is the highest summit in the Harz with a height of 1,141.1 metres above sea level. The Wurmberg (971 metres) is the highest peak located entirely within Lower Saxony.
Hasselkopf
Hasselkopf is a mountain on the southern periphery of Braunlage, Germany. It is 612 m high. The hill is mostly covered in grass and undeveloped, but its northern slope has a short ski lift and can be used for downhill skiing in the winter months. On 1964-05-07 the hill was used by Gerhard Zucker to demonstrate the use of mail rockets. One exploded in an accident, killing three.

Silberteich
The Silberteich is a man-made pond and lies on the upper reaches of the Brunnenbach stream between Braunlage and Sankt Andreasberg in the Harz Mountains of Germany. Originally it was called the Andreasberger Teich or Brunnenbacher Teich, where Teich means 'pond'. Its present name (which means 'Silver Pond') was chosen quite recently to underline its attraction as a tourist destination. The pond was created in 1755 in order to supply the surrounding ore mines with water power.
Brockenweg Ski Jumps
At the foot of the Wurmberg is the Brockenweg Ski Jump . This has two training jumps (K 7 and K 15), two artificial jumps (K 40 and K 58) and the derelict winter jump (K 70). The Braunlage Winter Sports Club (WSV Braunlage) hosts regional and international ski jumping here. All the jumps apart from K 70 are laid with mats.
