Ruhr
The Ruhr, by German-speaking Anglo-American geographers and historians more accurately called the Ruhr district, Ruhr region or Ruhr valley (German Ruhrgebiet, colloquial Ruhrpott, Kohlenpott, Pott or Revier), is an urban area in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. With a population density of 2,800/km² and a population of some five million, it is the largest urban agglomeration in Germany.
Florianturm
The Florianturm (Florian Tower, Florian for short) is a telecommunications tower and landmark of Dortmund. It is named after St. Florian, the patron saint of gardeners. The Florianturm is the TV tower of Dortmund and was built in 1959 as an attraction for a federal horticultural show with a height of 219.6 metres. At the time it was briefly the highest freestanding structure in Germany. The tower was constructed similarly to a high concrete chimney.
Dortmund–Ems Canal
The Dortmund–Ems Canal is a 269 km long canal in Germany between the inland port of the city of Dortmund and the sea port of Emden. The artificial southern part of the canal ends after 215 km at the lock of Herbrum near Meppen. From there, the route goes over a length of 45 km over the river Ems until the lock of Oldersum. There, the canal continues with a further artificial part of 9 km.
St. Reinoldi (Dortmund)
The Lutheran Protestant Church of St. Reinoldi is, according to its foundation date, the oldest extant church in Dortmund, Germany; it is dedicated to Renaud de Montauban, the patron of the city. Westfalenhallen
Westfalenhallen are three multi-purpose venues, located in Dortmund, Germany. The original building was opened in 1925, but was destroyed during World War II. New halls were built, the Große Westfalenhalle opened in 1952. The capacity of the arena is 16,500. The Kleine Westfalenhalle served also for balls, exhibitions and concerts, such as the Dortmunder Philharmoniker, until the Opernhaus Dortmund was opened in 1966.
Dortmund Port
Construction on Dortmund's port which terminates the Dortmund-Ems Canal connecting Dortmund to the North Sea started in 1895. It was opened 1899 by Kaiser Wilhelm. At the beginning of the 20th century it was mainly used for the import and export of wheat, coal and ore. The port was expanded in the 1920s and 1930s by adding new docks as well as on the administrative infrastructure (Dortmunder Hafenamt).
Museum Ostwall
The Museum Ostwall (known as Museum am Ostwall until 2010) is a museum of modern and contemporary art in Dortmund, Germany. It was founded in the late 1940s, and has been located in the Dortmund U-Tower since 2010. The collection includes paintings, sculptures, objects and photographs from the 20th century, plus over 2,500 graphics, spanning Expressionism through classic modern art to the present day.
Stadion Rote Erde
Stadion Rote Erde (Red Earth Stadium) is a 25,000 capacity (3,000 seated) football and athletics stadium in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. It serves as home to Borussia Dortmund II. The stadium, built in the 1920s, sits in the shadow of the Westfalenstadion.
Lünen Power Station
Lünen Power Station is a coal-fired power station in Germany. It's located in Lünen in the district Unna. It has an output capacity of 500 megawatts. The first power station in Lünen was commissioned in 1938. The power station produces traction current since 1984 also. Since at the end of 2003 is produced in the power station also long-distance heating. Annual coal consumption amounts to 960,000 tons. The operator of the power station is Evonik Industries.
Dortmund Central Station
Dortmund Central Station (Dortmund Hauptbahnhof) is the central station for the city of Dortmund in Germany. The station's origins lie in a joint station of the Köln-Mindener Eisenbahn and Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn which was built north of the city centre in 1847. That station was replaced by a new station, erected in 1910 at the current site. It featured raised embankments to allow a better flow of traffic. At the time of its opening, it was one of the largest stations in Germany.

The U-Tower or Dortmunder U is a former brewery building in the city of Dortmund, Germany. Since 2010 it serves as a center for the arts and creativity, housing among other facilities the Museum Ostwall.
Theater Dortmund
Theater Dortmund is a theatrical organization that produces operas, musicals, ballets, plays, and concerts in Dortmund, Germany. It was founded as the Stadttheater Dortmund in 1904. Supported by the German Government, the organization owns and operates several performance spaces. In 2010 the Ruhr district was a European Capital of Culture, Theater Dortmund is a partner of the related program RUHR.2010 in the fields Music and Theater and Dance.
Opernhaus Dortmund
Opernhaus Dortmund (Dortmund Opera House) is the opera house of Dortmund, Germany, which opened in 1966 and is formally operated by the Theater Dortmund organisation. This is the second opera house to exist in Dortmund, the first one having been built in 1904, but it was destroyed during World War I. The 1966 opera house was designed by architects Heinrich Rosskotten and Edgar Tritthart.
Dortberghaus
Dortberghaus is a listed building in the Dortmund city center. The Dortberghaus emerged in the years 1937-1938 after the plans of the Cologne architect Emil Rudolf Mewes as an administrative building of the Gelsenkirchen Mining-AG. The building is close to the Dortmund main train station. The Gelsenkirchen mine-AG wrote in 1936 opened an architectural competition for the construction of the building; Emil Rudolf Mewes won.
Adler Apotheke (Dortmund)
The Adler Apotheke, in Dortmund, is the oldest existing pharmacy in its original location in North Rhine-Westphalia. The pharmacy is located in a historic building at the Adler Alter Markt in the heart of downtown Dortmund . It is first documented in 1392 and was owned by the same family for over 500 years. In the cellar buildings of today's pharmacy is now a pharmacy museum. Here can be found almost 100 square metres of exhibition pieces including an equipment room, laboratory and store rooms.

The Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte or MKK (Museum of Art and Cultural History) is a municipal museum in Dortmund, Germany. It is currently located in an Art Deco building which was formerly the Dortmund Savings Bank. The collection includes paintings, sculptures, furniture and applied art, illustrating the cultural history of Dortmund from early times to the 20th century.

Dortmund Stadthaus is a railway station on the Welver–Sterkrade railway situated in Dortmund in western Germany. It is served by the S4 line of Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn. A Dortmund Stadtbahn underground station is located underneath the station.

Dortmund-Dorstfeld is a railway station situated in Dortmund in western Germany. It is served by the S1, S2 and S4 lines of Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn. It has an important role as an interchange point since the trains of the S4 line do not serve Dortmund Hauptbahnhof. Therefore, departure times of the S2 and S4 lines are coordinated in order to allow interchange on shared platforms for each destination.

Westfalenstadion is an association football stadium in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the home stadium of the Borussia Dortmund football team playing in the German Bundesliga. The stadium is officially named Signal Iduna Park under a sponsorship arrangement lasting from December 2005 until 2021, giving naming rights to the Signal Iduna Group, an insurance company.

Altes Stadthaus, Dortmund
Altes Stadthaus in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, is an office block which was built in 1899, and was designed by "master builder" Friedrich Kullrich (a German architect, urban planner and construction officer from Berlin). It was built in the Renaissance Revival architecture (Neo-Renaissance) style. After the office block was severely damaged in World War II, it was rebuilt in a simplified form. At the top of the gable is an eagle emblem, representing the city of Dortmund.
