Vaughan, Victoria

Vaughan, is a small village in the Shire of Mount Alexander in the state of Victoria, Australia south of Castlemaine and east of Guildford. Vaughan is situated on the Loddon River which has the Lawson spring, a drinkable mineral water spring. Vaughan Post Office first opened on 15 March 1859 and closed in 1922. It opened again in 1947 and closed in 1968.

Guildford, Victoria

Guildford is a small settlement situated on the Loddon River, 130 kilometres north-west of Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia. It is located on the Midland Highway between Daylesford and Castlemaine. The population recorded at the 2011 census was 245. Facilities in the town include a post office (in a building dating from 1901), hotel, community hall and a general store. It is thought that the town was named after Guildford in England.

The town derives its name from a tributary of the Loddon, Campbells Creek, which flows through the township. At the 2006 Census, Campbells Creek had a population of 1,266. Campbells creek was founded during the gold rush of the 1850's. The Post Office opened on 16 April 1858.
