Mount Gambier, South Australia
Mount Gambier is the second most populous city in South Australia with an urban population of 24,905. Located on the slopes of the mountain of the same name in the south east of the state approximately 450 kilometres south-east of the capital Adelaide and just 17 kilometres from the Victorian border, it is the most important settlement in the Limestone Coast region and the seat of government for both the City of Mount Gambier and District Council of Grant.
Blue Lake (South Australia)
The Blue Lake in Mount Gambier, South Australia is a large monomictic lake located in an extinct volcanic maar associated with the Mount Gambier maar complex. It is one of four crater lakes on Mount Gambier. Of the four lakes, only two remain, as the other two (Leg of Mutton and Brown) have dried up over the past 30 to 40 years as the water table has dropped. Conflicting dates have been estimated for its last eruption, of 28,000 years ago, 4300 years ago.
Tenison Woods College
Tenison Woods College is a co-educational Roman Catholic secondary school in Mount Gambier, South Australia. It is named after the pioneer priest, scientist and educator Fr. Julian Tenison Woods in recognition of his contribution to Catholic education. It was established in 2001 as an R-12 Catholic college as a result of the efforts of the Parish of Mount Gambier, the Boards and community of Tenison College and St. Pauls Primary School.

The District Council of Grant is a local government area located in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia, and is the southernmost council in the state. The council was formed in 1996, after the amalgamation of the District Councils of Mount Gambier and Port MacDonnell, and currently surrounds the City of Mount Gambier local government area. The economy of the district is based around agriculture, forestry and fishing.
City of Mount Gambier
The City of Mount Gambier is a local government area centred in Mount Gambier in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia. While it is the southernmost city council in the state, the District Council of Grant is the southernmost council because it completely surrounds but does not include the city of Mount Gambier. Council Chamber in the Civic Centre at 10 Watson Terrace, Mount Gambier is the seat of local government.
ABC South East SA
ABC South East SA is an ABC Local Radio station based in Mount Gambier, South Australia. The station broadcasts to the Limestone Coast region including the towns of Naracoorte, Millicent, Robe, Kingston, Bordertown and Keith. The station began broadcasting as 5MG in 1955. It originally broadcast only on 1476 kHz to the town of Mount Gambier. A second larger transmitter was switched on in 1956 (callsign 5PA) broadcasting on 1161 kHz to the wider South East region of South Australia.
Mount Gambier (volcano)
Mount Gambier is a maar complex in South Australia associated with the Newer Volcanics Province. It contains four lake-filled maars called Blue Lake, Valley Lake, Leg of Mutton Lake, and Brownes Lake. It is one of Australia's youngest volcanoes, but estimates of the age have ranged from over 28,000 to less than 4,300. The most recent estimate, based on radiocarbon dating of plant fibers in the main crater suggests an eruption a little before 6000 years ago.
