The City of Greater Bendigo is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the central-western part of the state. It has an area of 3,048 square kilometres. According to the 2011 Census, the local government area has a population of 100,617. The city was formed in 1994 when the former City of Bendigo, the Borough of Eaglehawk and the Shires of Strathfieldsaye, Huntly, Marong and, later, the Shire of McIvor amalgamated under state government reforms.

Bendigo railway station

Bendigo is a railway station in Bendigo on the Bendigo line in Victoria, Australia. Bendigo is the junction for the Echuca and Swan Hill railway lines. The station was rebuilt after being destroyed by fire 24 December 1965. Golden Square railway station is currently not in use and is located between Bendigo and Kangaroo Flat stations. Closed stations on the Echuca line, between Bendigo and Elmore, were Epsom, Huntly, Bagshot, Wellsford, Goornong and Avonmore.

Strathfieldsaye is a suburb of the city of Greater Bendigo in Victoria, Australia. It takes its name from Stratfield Saye House, which was awarded to the Duke of Wellington following his defeat of Napoleon. In the 2006 census, Strathfieldsaye had a population of 3,147. A Strathfieldsaye Post Office opened on 1 January 1864 and a Strathfieldsaye North office on 8 December 1876.
