University of Ballarat
The University of Ballarat is a dual-sector university in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. It was formed by the passage of an Act of the Victorian Parliament in 1994, from the Ballarat College of Advanced Education. It subsequently merged with the Ballarat School of Mines and Industries (1870) and the Horsham based Wimmera Institute of TAFE in 1998 to create a larger University.

Buninyong Town Hall is located in the centre of Buninyong, Victoria, Australia. Construction began on the combined town hall and courthouse on 30 August 1886. It is included on the Victorian Heritage Register for its architectural and historical importance to the State of Victoria. The courthouse contains the Buninyong Historical Society collection, which includes historic items from the former Shire of Buninyong.

Scotchmans Lead is a rural locality, 6 km (3.7 statute miles) from Buninyong, in South Western Victoria, Australia. Scotchmans Lead sits between the Yarrowee River, Midland Highway and Scotchmans Lead Road. It has recently been renamed Scotchmans Lead from Yarrowee, after a proposal by the Ballarat City Council to change its name back to its historic days. Scotchmans Lead was once a prominent mining area and farming area, with many properties still rearing animals such as cows and horses.

Warrenheip railway station
Warrenheip is a closed station located in the town of Warrenheip, on the Serviceton railway line in Victoria, Australia. The Geelong-Ballarat line junctions off at the down end of the former station. The line though the station opened in 1862, on the double track railway from Geelong to Ballarat. The station opened in 1873, becoming a junction in 1879 when a branch line was built towards Gordon station, the direct line to Melbourne not completed until 1889.

Sebastopol is a southern suburb on the rural-urban fringe of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. It is the second most populated area in urban Ballarat with a population of 8,045 at the 2006 census. It is named after Sevastopol in Ukraine, the site of an important battle during the Crimean War. Formerly a separate town, Sebastopol had municipal status between 1864 and 1994 after which the Borough of Sebastopol was merged into the City of Ballarat.

The borough covered an area of 7.61 square kilometres, and existed from 1864 until 1994. Sebastopol was incorporated as a borough on 1 October 1864. On 6 May 1994, it was abolished, and merged with the City of Ballaarat, Shire of Ballarat and parts of the Shires of Bungaree, Buninyong, Grenville and Ripon into the City of Ballarat.

Buninyong railway line
The Buninyong Line (also known as 'Bunny Hop Line') was a Victorian Railways branch line running south from Ballarat, Victoria to the town of Buninyong. The line branched from the main Melbourne – Ballarat railway at Ballarat East station and was 11 km long. The line was opened on 12 September 1889 and finally closed on 1 December 1986. The section from Eureka to Buninyong closed much earlier on 2 February 1947. The line had previously closed to passenger services in 1930.
