The Shire of Nillumbik is a local government area in Victoria, Australia. It contains outer northern suburbs of Melbourne and rural localities beyond the urban area. It has an area of 435 square kilometres and at the 2011 Census, the Shire had a population of 60,342. It was formed in 1994 from the merger of parts of the Shires of Eltham, Diamond Valley, Healesville and the City of Whittlesea. The Shire uses the tag-line The Green Wedge Shire.

Yan Yean Reservoir

Yan Yean Reservoir is the oldest water supply for the city of Melbourne, Australia. It is built on the Plenty River a tributary of the Yarra River, 30 km north of the city. A 9.5 metre embankment holds back 30,000 megalitres (30 million cubic metres) of water. Work began in 1853 at the height of the gold rush, and it took four years to construct at a cost of £750,000. The reservoir is managed by Melbourne Water as part of the water supply system for Melbourne.

Kangaroo Ground War Memorial Park

Kangaroo Ground War Memorial Park is a war memorial occupying Garden Hill, Kangaroo Ground, in Melbourne, Australia, the tallest hill for many miles around. Its main feature is the 12-metre Tower of Remembrance, opened in 1926.
