The City of Stonnington is a Local Government Area located within the metropolitan area of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It comprises the inner south-eastern suburbs, between 3 and 13 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD. The city covers an area of 25.6 square kilometres and includes the suburbs of South Yarra, Prahran, Windsor, Toorak, Armadale, Kooyong, Glen Iris, Malvern and Malvern East.

At the 2011 Census, Armadale had a population of 8,760. The suburb has its own railway station, as well as Toorak railway station, which is also in Armadale. It is bordered by Glenferrie Road to the east, Orrong Road to the west, Malvern Road to the north and Dandenong Road/Princes Highway to the south.

Kooyong is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 6 kilometres south-east from Melbourne's Central Business District. Its Local Government Area is the City of Stonnington. At the 2011 Census, Kooyong had a population of 803. Kooyong takes its name from Kooyong Koot Creek, which was the original name given to Gardiners Creek by the government surveyor, Robert Hoddle, in 1837. It is thought that the name derives from an Aboriginal word meaning camp or resting place, or haunt of the wild fowl.

Kooyong Stadium
Kooyong Stadium, at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, is a tennis venue, located in Melbourne, Australia. The stadium was built in 1927 and has a capacity of 8,500. It was the venue for the Australian Open, whenever that tournament was held in Melbourne, becoming the permanent venue in 1972. The tournament was moved to Melbourne Park in 1988. The surface was grass courts. Now a hard-court surface, it remains the venue for the AAMI Classic exhibition tournament.

It is the home ground of the Prahran Football Club and Old Xaverians Football Club of the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) and Prahran Cricket Club, which plays in the Victorian Premier Cricket competition. The current capacity of the venue is 15,000. Toorak Park opened in 1893 when it was used by Hawksburn Cricket Club (later Prahran).
