White Bear Forest
The White Bear Forest is an old growth forest, located in Temagami, Ontario, Canada. The forest is named after Chief White Bear, who was the last chief of the Teme-Augama Anishnabai before Europeans appeared in the region. In some parts of the White Bear Forest trees commonly reach 200 to 300 years in age, while the oldest tree accurately aged in White Bear Forest was a red pine that was 400 years old in 1999.
Temagami greenstone belt
The Temagami greenstone belt, also known as the Temagami volcanic belt and the Temagami metavolcanic belt, is a small 2.7 billion year old greenstone belt in the Temagami region of Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It represents a feature of the Superior craton, an ancient and stable part of the Earth's lithosphere that forms the core of the North American continent and Canadian Shield. The belt is composed of metamorphosed volcanic rocks that range in composition from basalt to rhyolite.
Temagami Railway Station
Temagami Railway Station is located in the community of Temagami in Ontario. The station was built in 1907 by the then Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway (now the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission), but it burned down two years later and was subsequently rebuilt. The station houses the station's office, telegraph and signal equipment, ticket counters and washrooms, and two waiting rooms. The station was altered in the 1940s and damaged by fire in 1976.
